There is no "best" ammunition. Different rounds for different scenarios, distances. etc. Firearms, especially rimfire, have individual personalities. What works well in one firearm is terrible in another though both firearms appear to be the same. I have very good response with about all CCI products. I really like the CCI AR Tactical but once again, it might not work for another. Fortunately, most any brand box .22lr ammunition has posed little problems for any of my .22s. I stock up on any that are on a substantial sale which, isn't all that often.

That thing shouldn't be picky at all. The vast majority will take anything 22 lr. Even mix em up. But the answer you're probably looking for is CCI mini mag. This is a good plinking round. Others might do better, and everyone has a favorite. But mini mag is a good place to start. But don't let the lack of a certain ammo stop you from shooting. Just buy the cheapest you find, and you'll be fine. If there's any real recommendation it would be to get the McFadden speed loader. Money well spent.

Just saw this thread and I happened to have just run about six boxes of different .22LR though my PC 15-22 in the past two days looking for the most consistent. Accuracy has as much to do with the shooter as the rifle. With that understanding I found the best groups for my gun was Eley 10X, SK Rifle Match, and Eley Subsonic HP. Again, this is bench shooting at 50 yards, finding what ammo keeps groups under an inch and these did. That said if you just want to run ammo and have fun plinking, CCI Standard velocity works great, but so too do many others-I'd stay away from the cheapest bulk stuff in an autoloader. What ever your intent, have fun.
Cheers!

Whoops, and good thing too cause its great ammo!!!! Best I have tried in over 30 different ammos with those results anyone that doesn't want to try it could be missing out. Accurate out to 100 yards but as already stated its on a gun by gun basis.

Thank you all for info, as I live in the United Kingdom we do not have such a big range of ammo to pick from. I will try and get CCI mini mags to try. Should be picking up a new M&P 15-22 performance in a few weeks.

Welcome from Alabama. The mini-mags should work just fine. Let us know how they perform for you.

My wife has two M&P 15-22 Performance Center rifles. One with a fixed 4x scope, one with a variable 3 - 9 scope. CCI standard velocity has been the best ammo for her. She uses the same ammo in her CZ-452 and Ruger 10-22 Target Takedown with excellent results. The CZ-452 is the most accurate, the Ruger 10-22 is 2nd, the 15-22 performance centers are next, but she loves shooting them the most.

Stay away from CCI Stinger as you have a "Performance" model. Just brought one home today and several place in the manual it states to avoid ... WARNING: Never use CCi .22 Long Rifle Stinger Brand Ammunition in your M&P15-22 Performance Center model rifle. the match chamber does not accommodate CCI .22 LR Stinger.
