Default Factory 15-22 Mag Problems

Has anyone else experienced problems with the feed lips on the 25 round mag that comes with the 15-22 from the factory? I'm looking for replacement mag for mine. Does anyone have any recommendations? How are the 10 round long mags that I've seen advertised? All help appreciated.

I wore out the feed lips on my 10 round shorty mag....through chronic overuse...you can tell they are worn as they don't seat the round properly and the bullet sits nose up. As soon as you notice it stop using it otherwise you are gonna have problems.

The 10 round long mags and the 25 round mags are identical except for the capacity and the load assist button.

That is the problem that I'm experiencing. I was hoping that there might be a better replacement to use.

15-22 magazines are widely recognised as the best .22 AR15 magazines available, thats why there are magazine converters for them for rifles like CMMG etc. Just buy a new mag (or ten), they're dirt cheap in the US.

I have 25 mags - 10 10-round and 15 25-round. Most have a couple of thousand rounds through each one and not a single feed lip failure. I've found wiping the lips with CLP after each shooting session keeps them clean and free running.

They do require a little more attention than metal feed lips.

Overall all, there are no better 15-22 magazines than factory mags.

close to 10,000 rds with no feed problems, pay attention to your loading procedure. Clean them once in a while, look for nicks on the lips.

I have a few 25 rounders feed lips fail on me on low round counts. You can see where the rim of the cartridge rubbed away the plastic. These were bought right after the market was starting to normalize with magazine availability. They were bulk packed (not in retail wrappers) so i'm wondering if they were just pushed out the door to meet high demand at the time.

Newer ones are holding up better so far.

Check to make sure that the mag is not splitting at the top. I had two that had separated which caused feeding problems. The fix was superglue and they have functioned flawlessly ever since.

It's normal for the feed lips to wear with time. I've had several fail that way, and one that came apart at the seams. They all had a couple thousand rounds or more through them when they failed.

Magazines wear out. Look for the on sale online. I have paid as little as 11.99 and as much as 16.99 for the ones I have. Never will pay full retail of 24.99 if I can help it.
