Default Installation of Hiperfire trigger trouble

Trying to install the 24c 3 gun version that does not have shoe.
After installing the first KNS pin the trigger will not move. Installed the hammer but since the trigger will not move the hammer would not release. Pins were really difficult to align.

Will call on Monday but would if anyone can help i could try it out tomorrow .

Thanks

Mike

Check out the many YouTube vids on this subject, when I fitted mine I had no trouble ( I am in no way to be considered an expert or anything like),
with regards to the KNS pins, did you buy the 15-22 specific pins or have you by mistake put in a set for an AR, these are slightly shorter than the ones specifically for the smith and actually pinch the sides in on the lower.
Also, if they were hard to push through AND you have the wrong ones, it may be you got the ones for worn holes ( i.e. NOT .154)
Just a thought as I run same trigger (24c with shoe) AND KNS pins with absolutely no problems at all.

Well the only problem I have is not enough mags (10) to keep up with how fast the damn thing will empty them.
Hope that helps.

Rob.

Watched several of the videos, I don't see anything different than what I am doing. I had a Timmney in and I do have the mp15-22 specific pins. It is as if the holes are too low towards the trigger opening to allow proper fit.

Has anyone had to modify the lower to install? Is there a difference between the red shoe version and the 3G that is causing a fit difference?

Thanks
Mike

It should fit no different to the 24C, should be easier without the shoe.

You said you had a Tinmey trigger in? As I understand the Timney requires a metal plate under the trigger, of course you removed that part when you took the Timney out, right?

Other than that, have you swapped out your safety selector? According to Hiperfire there are about 6 safety selectors that are not compatible, but having said that, they wouldn't fit a 15-22 anyway.

Just clutching at straws, upset that you can't enjoy the beauty of a Hiperfire trigger. Hope you get it figured out

Don't remember putting a metal plate underneath the Timney.

Will have to check for that.

Thanks!

50/50 on the Timney shim. It's another piece separate from the trigger module and is designed so that the adjustment screws do not penetrate in the trigger well on polymer rifles. If the shim did anything it would raise the holes of the trigger / hammer. Some use them some don't. Have you tried your factory pins to see if the fitment is different? Does the alignment issue happen if the selector switch is removed? You say the pin hole sit too far down (both)? If raised slightly what does the trigger assembly do? Not getting the too low description?

I wonder if you are hitting the straight leg of the hammer spring where it sits atop the trigger pin?

I got the Timney back in and running now, will disassemble again after my next match on Tuesday. The shim seems like my problem, at least I hope that is it.

I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks,

Mike

How's that? If anything it would raise the holes, not lower them.

It may not lowered the holes but raised the bottom of where the trigger seats.

Thought so, with the shim being the only foreign part in the equation, glad to help you get it sorted.

Now go out and enjoy the beauty of the Hiperfire trigger

Glad it has worked out and good job GM. Someone help me out please because I really like knowing cause and effect. OP stated that it appeared the pin holes of the trigger / hammer were "too low towards the trigger opening .....". Now that all the smoke has cleared, the very thin shim had to have elevated the trigger / hammer. Too low / too high could have caused difficulty with pin alignment possibly resulting in the mechanism being torqued / wedged off any given axis to the point of malfunction.

1. The pin holes of the receiver were actually lower, possibly offset as well ,from the mechanism pin holes. Right?

2. Haven't messed with the 15-22 however any AR (within spec) I've seen has a small space, greater than the Timney shim thickness, between the fire control group and the bottom of the well. Typically when installing either a stock assembly or a module - style aftermarket assembly, the assembly is raised a bit to vertically align its holes with the receiver holes.

Once again, glad to see it squared away. Just looking for the precise cause of the misalignment. Up or down of the assembly pin holes? Thanks.
