Has any one used CCI Velocitor on a long term basis in their M&P 15-22?

The reason I ask is I am wondering if the increased pressure has
increased the wear on the gun. I don't know what the pressures are on the
CCI Maxi-Mag 40gr. (1235 fps) vs the CCI Velocitor 40 gr. (1435).
The same weight at a higher speed makes me think it has to produce a higher chamber pressure.

I'm sure it will not blow up the gun, but am interested in any increased wear.
If you have used the Velocitor round for a while, please let us know.

The rifle has a life time warranty, so does it really matter?

I'd just simply like to be able to find Velocitors.

I regulary shoot only high velocity ammo.
Tbe lowest ive used it the 1200fps federal .
The 15-22 loves the high velocity ammo, it just eates it up.

A worthy question, and I for one have stuck to the 1235FPS (CCI Blazer) ammo for the range. The high end stuff which you refer too, is A) expensive, B) has a specific usage, i.e. hunting. I can't think of someone running that ammo exclusively, but would like to hear from some old dogs on this forum on their opinions.

If you can afford to shoot enough Velocitors to jack up a rifle, you can afford another rifle.

It matters as I'm not the original owner.

Oh, I'm not trying to be a smart alec, I'm just saying, those things are like $6/box of 50. Not a lot of folks can afford to shoot them in mass amounts when there are like a million other 22 rounds out there. If 5000rds would screw up the gun, thats $600 in 22 ammo. If it made it to 10000rds, well, $1200.

After you’ve put a half million rounds through the rifle you -might- want to worry about this. Your chance of ever blowing up the barrel/chamber with a steady diet of velocitors is statistically non-existent.

I have shot a fair number of the Velocitor rounds in my Kimber bolt action sporter rifle. It is the most accurate high performance round I have found for that rifle. Solid 1/2 groups at 50 yards from the bench. Only high quality match ammo beats it, on the order of 1/3 inch groups on a good day.

I may be wrong, but I believe the Velocitor achieves its velocity thru slower burning powders, and not by any meaningful increase in pressure.

I base my opinion on the fact that when Velocitor ammo is tested in handguns, the velocity is usually less than what the standard high velocity .22 ammo gives using 40 grain bullets.

I would think that any high velocity .22 ammo is going to put more stress on a semi-auto gun than a strict diet of lower velocity match ammo would, all other factors being equal. By what factor, exactly - hard to say. Takes a lot of work to wear out a quality .22.

If it were my gun, and it really liked that loading, and I could afford the asking price on a steady basis, then I would use it without worry.
