I got bite by the impulse bug and bought a case of MM on sale about .065 a round shipped. Then I started thinking maybe CCI SV would have been a better round for the 15-22. I shoot the MM in a Glock AA conversion and SV in a Victory. Marlin 39A shoots both well but the SV slightly better using a scope. Using the factory iron sights have you noticed a difference in accuracy between the MM and SV? I know this will vary from gun to gun but there is probably a general pattern as to results. I'm thinking shooting the iron sights there isn't going to be a significant difference between these two. Of course I will test to determine.

Personally, I think it depends on the distance being shot. Any bullet, including a 22lr, will have issues when it goes transonic - that is, from supersonic to subsonic; note, the bullet has issues going the other way as well, but that occurs in the barrel, so it can be stabilized. For most high velocity bullets, that's about 25 yards. hyper-velocity bullets will go further before going transonic.

SV rounds are almost always subsonic (depending on temp, altitude, etc). Most (if not all) match ammo is subsonic to ensure the bullet never goes transonic.

I believe it's also why HV 22lr rounds tend to be less expensive than SV rounds (typically) - they just aren't as accurate because they go transonic.

Of course, I shoot SV because I shoot suppressed. Nothing more satisfying IMO then hitting steel at 100 yards and only hearing 'ping'.

Note, even to 100 yards, going transonic is only going to cause a minor deviation (1" or so - complete guess). However, that deviation is not repeatable, resulting in a loss of accuracy.

Mini mags are 1235 fps.

CCI Green Tag is a competition round is 1070 fps

CCI Select is also a competition round and is 1200 fps

The ammo must function the guns action each time the trigger is pulled and go bang every time.Each gun needs to be tested with many different brands and types to see which performs the the least issues and best accuracy.
I have found the CCI Mini Mags and Tactical to function my 15-22 without issue and be fairly accurate.
For only accuracy at 50yds the Aguila Standard Velocity .22 40-Grain was the best of the ones I tested but had several failures to feed and eject per 100 rounds fired.

The CCI Mini Mags also perform without issues in a Ruger SR22 pistol.

I had purchased 10,000 rds of mini mags and tactical in 300 rd boxes@ $0.05 per round in a face to face a year ago.

Plated feed better than lead in both guns.

Agree. My 15-22 shoots most accurately with CCI tactical 22lr. It is 1200 fps and a round nose bullet. In my opinion from experience round nose bullets (22lr) seem more accurate over longer distances than hollow points. I don't hunt so I try to buy only round nose bullets for target / p!inking.

I got an email from Natchez, which i usually ignore, but it was advertising 22's for sale. Got a case of CCI Std Vel for $33.33 a brick, shipped. I have been looking for std vel CCI at reasonable prices for awhile with no luck. Best I have seen at gunshows is $40 - 45. My latest acquistions are two Rem model 12 rifles that are regulated to Std vel only. High vel rounds have been known to bust the bolt on these old warriors, the reason 121's were developed.

I haven’t tried any mini mags but I have extensively compared the groupings provided by CCI AR Tac and CCI SV at 50 yards. My 15-22 definitely groups better with the CCI SV.

I have shot both MM and SV and haven't noticed any difference in accuracy, but 25 yds. is the max distance I can shoot at my range. I have no failures with either.

Yep, I run CCI exclusively.****n their Quiet round at 25yds to sight in. Then transition to their Blazer rounds to make finale adjustments. 1235 FPS is my sweet spot there after. "Quite" won't cycle fully other than eject, so one shot at a time, gives one time to think about target acquisition, trigger pull, and breathing. Sounds like a roofers nail gun. Quiet has a 710FPS so at 25 yards your sights just need tweeking using higher range ammo. Probably more for youth and Newbies but it works for me.

With iron sights I doubt you will see a difference between MM and SV. In my 15-22 I get about 1 3/8" groups at 50 yds with CC SV and 4x magnification. With MM, I will get more like 1 3/4" groups. All are 10-shot groups. With irons I would guess there is more variance from unaided eye than the ammo difference.

This was my assumption. With a scope a measurable difference but not with the factory sights.
