If I get the barrel conversion nut from tacticool22. I can use ANY free float hand guard I want. Is that correct? Also which nut do I need? The standard or modified..?

Others will, I am sure jump in with loads of advice, but basically it will depend on a couple of main things, which HG you go for and whether or not you can live with or without a gap between HG and upper rail.

Once you know which HG you like then it’s a case of asking which adapter nut you need.

I have the Troy Alpha. Needed the improved adapter.

Also worth noting that Tacticool does his own swap out HG.

Easy swap out with no gap, if you like that particular version of HG.

Massive choices available so good luck choosing and enjoy.

Rob.

Those looks nice Changing out the handguard??. I have one from tacticool22 and have been pleased with it. I like the feel of the aluminum a little better than the stock handguard. I’m sure the STNGR will be the same.

The difference between the two is the standard leaves your rifle alone and leaves a 1/4" gap between the back of the delta ring and the front of the picatinny rail.
The modified requires the upper be modified by removing all of the bottom indexing tab and most of the top one. This brings the gap down to 3/32 inch.
