Default Well, I ordered a double tap trigger

Ive seen a few videos, they look pretty fun. I was tossing the idea around about getting a franklin binary but when they told me that I might need to modify the lower that was all I needed to hear to make my mind up on the DT. Should be here in a couple weeks. Anybody else here running one?

I'm running the Franklin Armory BFS-3, but I did strongly consider the Double Tap trigger.
You are correct that you do have to slightly modify the receiver to run the Franklin Armory BFS-3. It requires filing down one of the selector stops so that the selector switch will go past it.
The downside for me about the Double Tap was the trigger selector only offers the Safe position and the Binary position. You dont have the option of just your regular semi-auto fire.
The Franklin Armory BFS-3 selector allows Safe, Semi, and Binary firing.
Since I target shoot as well as squirrel hunt with my rifle I needed to be able to have semi fire without having to swap the fire-control-group out each time I wanted to use the rifle for a different purpose.
I think you will enjoy that Double Tap trigger though. It is a lot of fun to shoot 2 quick rounds or more when plinking cans or targets.

The differences you mentioned made it a tough decision. In the end though I use this gun for plinking and can deal with out having a single shot mode. I really liked the BFS trigger but couldnt justify double the price for just putting holes in paper. If cost wasnt an issue I would have went with the Franklin more than likely..

Can you briefly tell what these triggers accomplish. I'm obviously not spending my time wisely, i.e. Avoiding toy stores.

I used my M&p15-22 outfitted with a Franklin Armory BFS-3 yesterday.

I set up a 'jungle walk' shooting range consisting of a 85 yd trail through the woods with 11-14 targets on each side of the trail set at different depths. The setup is so that I walk a few yards, fire, walk a few more yards, change shoulders with the rifle and shoot the alternate side targets.

The first 8 passes I used the regular semi trigger setting.
Then I made a few passes double tapping on the regular semi trigger setting.
Then I switched the trigger to binary mode and ran the course double tapping the targets. It definitely makes those double taps more accurate because it requires half the motion of the regular double tap.

My binary double tap groupings were typically much tighter than the semi-trigger shot pairings.

I consider that increased accuracy worth the price of the trigger, and that is one thing these triggers accomplish.

Glad ya'll aren't letting the fear of "legality" dictate what you enjoy. More power to ya and hopefully the crown allows us peasants to own these things in the future.

As of now the DOJ proposed bumpstock regulations do not seem to include binary triggers. When the bumpstock ban was in the initial stages of proposal there was mention of "any devices that could increase the rate of fire of a semi-automatic rifle", but I do not see that provision listed anywhere in the 55-page bumpstock ban proposal.

However, BATFE can and has declared items their Tech Branch has previously reviewed and approved (and issued 'Approval Letters' to the product designers), they have sometimes declared those items as restricted or illegal to own. Because of that precedence there is the possibility that they could at anytime regulate the binary triggers out of existence.

Currently it is my opinion that the binary triggers remain legal because BATFE would once again have to change the definition of a machine gun. Currently a legal semi-automatic shoots one round for each "function" of the trigger. In the case of the binary trigger, one function is the pull, and another function is the release of the trigger, which follows BATFE rules for a legal semi-automatic.

Srry, I actually forgot I made this post... Ive have shot it a couple times... And as expected. It has a few hiccups now and then, but overall I am pretty happy with it... It fires at a rate that mimics full auto
