Default Range report

Took the new 1522 to the range today had nothing but failure to extract on every magazine couple of double feeds as well, I’m thinking maybe the extractor which I have ordered and it came too thick on both occasions Waiting to hear back from volquartsen again, What else could it be? Also tried three different types of ammo same result

Failure to extract (spent shell never leaves the chamber) or

Failure to eject (spent shell crushed by bolt) ?

Different cause, different fix.

We've been thru this quite a few times, even in recent extractor threads.

The EJECTOR is frequently the problem as it is commonly not in the best position as delivered. Just take the upper off the lower and you can see it (and its' position) easily.

It needs to be high enough to be almost in contact with the underside of the bolt and laterally the "tip" of the ejector "hook" should be almost in contact with the rib on the underside of the bolt. By "almost in contact" I mean less than the thickness of a piece of paper clearance or barely contacting. The ejector is adjusted by (carefully) bending it.

Ejector position and chamber cleanliness are usually more important than the extractor.

I had similar problem, so what I found worked for me, I filed the extractor smooth, no ruff edges. Then it ejected with no problems.

It’s failure to eject crushed by bolt, I have a Volquartsen on the way, I don’t intend to file of bend it, if the new one doesn’t work I’m selling it.

Just a comment ...

Not paying attention to what one is doing when cleaning the action frequently knocks the ejector out of alignment.

My family has three 15-22s with an aggrate 30,000 rounds through them. No ejector problems with any of them.

A new extractor may not help ejection problems. Make sure the ejector is properly located against the bolt.

Ok i'm a dumbass I was confusing the exctactor with the ejector<
I looked at the fix video and gave it a slight bend with the needlenose, looks ok .The extractor will be here tomorrow and I'll go give it a try,I'll bring the pliers with me in case it needs a tweak,Hoping for the best.

Good deal. Hope it works for you. Of little matter to me; I hope if it continues to be problematic you'll consider giving S&W a chance to correct the problem.
