Another extraction issue
I've had my 15-22 performance model (18 in fluted barrel with magpul furniture) for about 2 months now. Ever since the very beginning I've had extraction issues. It's bad, like every 4-5 pulls of the trigger results in the bullet not extracting and jamming up the gun. Tried a little bit of everything, 5 different types of ammo. Tried running the gun really lubricated, less lubricated, super clean, pretty dirty, etc. It seems to make no difference. If I can't figure this out I'm going to send it in to S&W and hopefully they'll do something for me. I have no idea how that might work.
So.....the big question is what can I do to fix the extraction issue? Please help.

I am having this issue as well, though not as extreme. I found some great videos on YouTube that show slightly bending the ejector piece that is attached to the barrel to place it in it optimal position. The other suggestion accross the board is to buy the volquartson extractor. This again is another easy job and it’s only about $12.

I had some FTE issues with mine, I adjusted the ejector and volquartson extractor. And i have not had one FTE. I believe the issue is the ejector design. I found it to be easy to hit it when cleaning the barrel and this can possibly bend out of alignment by accident. I know now to check it every time after cleaning and tweak it if its not almost touching the bolt. Side note if you have a stove pipe or feed issue that can also put a force on the ejector. Not a lot if room in the upper and its right there!

I tweaked the ejector arm and had a great time at the range. Zero failures using CCI Mini Mags. 200 rounds.

The extractor and ejector are completely different parts that have different problems.
Failure to extract the spent case is an extractor problem (and possibly a chamber flaw)
Failure to eject is an ejector problem. (Place a straw over the ejector to prevent a boresnake from catching it)
There is an improved plunger, stronger spring and improved extractor available.

With the blowback system, there really is no need for an extractor. If everything is running like it should, the case will come out automatically.

My brand new M&P 15-22 had an
ejection issue on the second round! Then on the 5th, 7th...That was with federal target grade, tried CCI standard velocity and no issues for the next 140 rounds.

Same problem here
I have the exact same failure to eject issue with my new 15-22. Spent casing gets squashed by the bolt and ends up sticking out of the ejection port, jamming everything up.
Looking at my ejector thing-y, it looks like it's a pretty tight tolerance between the hook (facing the port) and the bolt. Then again, I can sort of "wiggle" the bolt and make it either hit the ejector hook, or miss it by daylight.
I probably have caught it on the bore snake - thanks for the tip to cover it with a straw.
I appreciate all the knowledge that is shared here.

From what I found on YouTube and my experience with just under a box of CCI Standard velocity ammo sighting in my 15-22 there is very little in the way of ammo issues with CCI.
