Default Ambitious Safety

One thing I didn't understand when I bought my 15-22 was why Smith & Wesson didn't put an ambitious Safety switch on this rifle?

But my real question is will a after market ambitious switch mount and function in a 15-22?

If this question has been brought up in the past I apologize for bringing it up again, but I couldn't get the search engine on the forum to work for me.

Hope everyone had a great father's day weekend and a good summer!

Well it is a rather meek rifle, it's just a .22.

All jibes and jokes aside....

I think the word you are looking for is AMBIDEXTROUS - meaning it can be operated from either side by both right-handed and left-handed shooters.

Happy fodder's day

Are you saying Smith & Wesson put a "LAZY" safety on the M&P 15-22? I think mine is fairly ambitious. It goes bang when on fire and doesn't when its engaged.

I don't think a standard Ambidextrous safety will work as the M&P 15-22 lower receiver is wider than a standard AR. If you just want it on the right side, I believe the factory safety can be reversed.

If you do want an Ambidextrous safety Battle Arms Development makes one for the the M&P 15-22

I got the Ambidextrous safety sold by Brownells that is meant for the 15-22. It has all the parts you need, easy to install and it works perfectly.

They didn't put one in to save cost, simple as that. This is a cheap (especially in the US) plinker.

I've put the Battle Arms Development Ambi safety in mine, handy for weak hand starting positions in mini-rifle competitions

No need to be embarrassed. I'm sure we all assumed it was an auto correct. It made for a fun thread and we got to have a good chuckle.

Come back here and let us know what you do with your safety and be ambitious and post some pics.

Nah S&W put a slothful safety on the 15-22

Meangene,

You can swap your factory saftey from Righty to Leftie, unliike a AR15. Done that on my 15-22 cause I shoot my long guns off the port shoulder.
Here's a link on how it's done:

I just did the Radian Raptor/Talon upgrade on mine. Worth the money.
