I have a friend that's a machinist that does mine but if your paying a source to do this your might be just as well off buying a shorter barrel.

thanks for the reply. last I checked you couldn't purchase a 4.5" 15/22 barrel. has this changed.

thanks

Not unless you find a 15-22 pistol or barrel on the used market. S&W doesn't sell them.

I know a few people that have used ADCO Firearms; Gunsmithing | Product categories | Adco Firearms LLC I have not used them myself.

Only caveat is be specific in your in instructions to them.

If you cut the barrel to 4.5" you will need to do some work to make it run reliably without a suppressor. I removed more weight from the bolt than S&W did for their 15-22P pistols. It will run SV and subsonic ammo quietly. I also made a bolt buffer to use with HV ammo.

I had JP grips do the threading and he did a great job. http://www.jpgrips.com/

I would appreciate more info on what you did to the bolt. also what suppressor are you running and what were the instructions you provided to jpgrips for threading the barrel for your suppressor.
thanks

I told JP Grips to cut the barrel to 4.5" and thread it to the Silencer Co Sparrow/Spectre 2 specs. I use both.

Here is a video showing the difference between the 15-22 rifle and pistol bolts. I removed just a little more material than S&W did.

I've had ADCO do several barrel chops/threads for me in the past.
They always do fine work.

I sent mine in on a Friday and it was back the following Thursday.

I specified it be cut to 10.5 and threaded to Sparrow specs.
