Default New 15-22 First sight-in

I should have bought two of these.

I spent a couple of hours sighting this fine little .22 in at my local 25 yard range. The iron, er plastic sights worked great. I figured out real quick that I should have put the front sight adjustment tool on my keychain. I was glad that I had a few micro screwdrivers in my gear bag to adjust the front post. Other than that, the carbine put every load of Wolf MT, Federal HV Match, some twenty year old Winchester Wildcat, and my RWS Rifle Match right into the 10-ring of the 25/yard Bullseye targets I used. Only failure was when one of my spare black mags failed to lock the action open when it ran dry. The FDE mag and my other black spares worked perfectly. My groups were quite small when I used the Leupold off of my big AR. Open sights, the groups opened up, but they stayed in the 10-ring. S&W has a winner with this one. I am glad I took a chance on it. My old Colt never had a chance.
Getcha One!

Welcome to the 15-22 brigade

With the new NZ laws the 15-22 is one of the few remaining AR type platforms allowed here and only with 10 round magazines (California West strikes again).

Chiappa and H&K also make an AR styled .22 semi’s, both a little more true to the AR design ( none working forward assist) but I find neither as handy as the S&W in handling.

Default M&P 15-22's

Hi Arman4461,

I did buy two, but not at the same time...

I couldn't agree with you more, my black M&P 15-22 was my first one, and it came with a red/green dot sight. The sight was less than optimum for me in a number of ways. It wouldn't adjust down low enough for point of aim to match point of impact, and I couldn't see the dot clearly at all due to cataracts. Surgery in February of this year cleared up the visual shortcomings, but not the point of impact issues. That's why I installed an Osprey Global SD1.5-5X32MDG Scope on it. This scope is very impressive, with its illuminated red/green reticle and most of all its low cost.

My second M&P 15-22 is the MAGPUL version in flat dark earth with MBUS sights. Very impressive, and I'm hoping it will shoot even better when I have as many rounds through it as I've put through the black one.

I've posted these photos before; but here's my M&P 15-22's.
