Default Trigger Upgrade for 15-22 (Or any AR Platform)

A buddy stopped by a few days to show me his new AR build. I asked him about the flat-faced trigger that was in it. It broke crisp at about 4# and had a real short re-set to it. He said it was a 'Rise Armament RA-140' drop-in trigger group that he got from Optics Planet for around $100.00. It comes in both flat-faced, and, curved trigger. It also comes with anti-rotating pins. He proceeded to look it up on his smart phone and it was on sale for $63.00 + tax, AND, FREE 2 DAY SHIPPING! Regular price was $108.00. Well, I ordered one right away for my M&P 15-22. I always wanted to upgrade the trigger in it. I have Wilson, Geissle, and Timney triggers is my other AR's but didn't want to drop that kind of cash for a trigger for my 15-22. Reviews were about 85% positive, so, at that price I figured I'd give it a try. Just wanted to spread the word just in case anyone was looking to upgrade their AR trigger and not spend allot of money.

The trigger arrived today (Sat 23 Nov). I ordered it Tue evening (19 Nov) so their idea of 2 Day shipping is just a tad off. But, it was free shipping soooo....

Typical easy AR trigger installation. After removing the mil spec trigger, just loosen the pistol grip and pull it down about a 1/4" to allow the selector switch to pull out a little to drop the trigger group in. No need to completely remove the pistol grip, or, selector switch. Just pay attention to the 2 springs and detent so they don't come flying out. It didn't come with any instructions so you just have to make sure that you LIGHTLY snug down the 2 set screws that are located under the legs of the hammer spring. You need to use a small blade screwdriver (or similar) to move the spring legs out of the way to get the (supplied) Allan wrench into the set screws.

After returning the selector switch to its proper position and tightening the pistol grip, install the anti-rotation pins (supplied, along with the Allen wrenches), with a dab of BLUE Loc Tite on each of the 4 screws, LIGHTLY tighten them down and you're finished.

Took it outside and ran 30 rounds through it as fast as I could pull the trigger and it worked like a champ.

What a VAST improvement over the stock mil spec trigger. Even at the regular price of around $100.00 this trigger is well worth the investment.

Good information, thanks for sharing. I have had problems with some aftermarket triggers on the 15-22's, light strikes. I have settled on CMC products, absolutely no problems. But it is good to have another affordable option.

Excellent price on that trigger. It was my first aftermarket, drop-in trigger on my ARs. Be interesting to see if it strikes the rim-fire hard enough on a consistent basis.

I've been shootin' the dickens out of it for the past couple of months, and, so for haven't had one lick of trouble (out of the trigger, or, the rifle).
