Default Scope recommentadion

I just bought my 15-22. I need help choosing a scope for it. I want 1 that is reliable. Only need out to about 200 yards. Has good customer service. I have looked a lot of photos of guns on here, but can't tell which ones are really good. I've been on Amazon and looked at many scopes. Every scope has 1 to 5 stars on them. I did find Feyachi scope that had all 5 stars.
This is a really great site.

Thanks,
Earl

Not sure what you'll be shooting at 200yds. I tend to limit my .22lr to 100 yds or less.........

Leupold is a great Brand..... I use them on most of my bolt rifles.

I've got a little 1.5 - 4 x20 on one of my .223/5.56 ARs

I like a red dot on my 15-22 shooting 0-100yds as a trainer for my ARs with
Aimpoint-PROs.

Another scope I like on a non-target .22 like a Ruger 10-22 Full stock..... is the Weaver 1-3x20 shotgun scope.

Hi Earl and welcome.

Before buying a telescope sight, keep in mind that .22 specific scopes are usually set to be parallax free at 50 yards, while high power scopes are set to 100 yards.

If you plan to shoot to 200 yards with your .22 rifle, consider a good high power scope with lots of elevation adjustment. I personally use a 10X Unertl for our 200 yard rim fire matches, but I do see Leuopolds on other rifles.

A good scope for what you want to do will probably cost as much or more than your rifle.

Here are a few ballistic charts for the 22 RF through 100 yards for your consideration as well as my 100 and 200 yard rifle, a Pre A Model Winchester 52. I might add that for such an endeavor you'll want to buy the best possible ammo for your rifle. Buy standard velocity match ammo.

I might add that shooting a .22 RF at 100 yards in a prone match is much like shooting a 30 caliber rifle at 600 yards as far as windage adjustments go. Lots of fun.

Good luck and have fun.

Many thanks for the data and general info. Good food for thought!

I like a small, light 2-7 x 32m/m scope for .22s Leupold, Burris, and Vortex are my preferred brands.

Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32 Rifle Scope Dead-Hold BDC or V-Plex Rimfire or V-Plex - $99 | gun.deals

You don't need a "tactical" or high power scope for a .22. As mentioned
above a Leupold 1.5-4X is light, compact, reliable and can be bought new
for just under $200. Leupold is tops in customer service.

I have a Nikon P-22 with BDC reticle on my 15-22. Never tried beyond 100 yards. Sighted in at 50 and the BDC works well at 100. I think Nikon changed the model designation to something else but still designed for rimfire.

Weaver T-36.
There might be a newer version these days.
Poor man's F class.
Popular with smallbore as well.
22 cal holes easy to see at 100 yds and it doubles as a spotting scope.
Have not tried it out at 200 yds plus yet.
Weaver advised it can handle 375H&H recoil.

Leupold otherwise.
I was issued a 20X on my Winchester 52D with the USAF in the late '60s. IIRC it was a Redfield?
It was like cheating prone and the other three positions, I still owe the Air Force and the NRA points.

No.1V 223 Rem 1:12
No.1H 458 WinMag snubby.

I didn't want to drop a lot of money on a scope for my 15-22, but, I do like nice optics. Most of the low budget scopes are just pretty much junk. I happened upon this scope from Tru Glo (a company known mostly for fiber optics and archery sights). Since I was familiar with the company's reputation for producing quality products, I figured I'd give their new 'Omnia' scope a try. Since I wouldn't be shooting past 100 yds. too often, I opted for the 1-4x instead of the 1-6x scope. For right around $200.00, not only is this scope quality built, nice and clear, positive click target turrets, and functions perfectly, it also comes with a 1 piece mount (non QD), flip-up lens covers, and a throw lever. The reticle is no frills with hold-overs, and illuminated (can also be used/seen unilluminated. This is a hard scope/package to beat for the price.

200y with a .22lr is a pretty big ask for a semi-auto like a 15-22.

Although I don't like their red-dots, Vortex telescopic sights are nice and something like a 1-6x Strike Eagle is fairly cheap, especially in the US. They also have a no questions asked free replace/repair guarantee.

Primary Arms has two scopes specifically made for .22LR. A fixed 6 power and a 1-6. They have the ACSS reticule for shots out to quite some distance, maybe even 200 yards but I don't remember for sure. Long rang shooters have tested their scopes and the ACSS BDC and have given it great reviews. They hold up to the math and many times do better than hand crunching the hold over manually does. You can't get a better review than that really.
