Default Volquartsen Firing pin

I wanted to replace my firing pin . I bought a Volquartsen firing pin . I measured the length of pin it was 2.168. I measure the old firing pin it was 2.178 long . I thought this not going to work , I call Volquartsen they go ahead try it . Tech stated they don't have a problem with their firing pins. Of course it wouldn't fire the round , like was expecting .But, I put old pin back in fired with no problem Waiting on them for call back . Has anyone seen this before?

Ok, found out something about this problem . I have old 15-22 & I have also a newer 15-22 . Bolt sizes in older one & newer one are completely different . I modified the the new firing pin, I think is going work fine. The newer bolt firing pin look a lot like the new Volquartsen pin. I guess things change from one built to another. I glad I had newer rifle to compare with .

I found this when I broke my 1st firing pin on my 11 year old 15-22. The replacement from S&W was too short. Sent it in and they replaced the bolt with the newer spec one.

I have the Volquartsen in one of my 15-22 and its a beast. Hits hard using after market triggers, which can be problematic with light strikes. Also the hit on the rim covers a little more surface area, which I like.
