Go to youtube, there are videos of long range shooting 22 LR. Personally, I've shot bolt guns at 300+ yds with dinner plate groups (peep sights). Time of flight is well over a second so doping the wind is a critical. Bullet drop is colossal too.
22 LR at 300 is not unlike high power at 1000 yds. Just much much cheaper and more convenient.

We have .22LR matches at 200 yards at our local shooting club. Once your zero is established, and as noted above, the only real problem is calling the wind in order to keep your bullets in the black.

Not only is an accurate rifle needed, but also a good set of match aperture sights or a good quality scope with lots of elevation in its adjustments. Naturally very good ammunition is good to have too. Subsonic match ammo is usually the best.

About half the distance as most any decent bolt .22 with ammo it likes. The 15-22 is a fun plinker .22, not a precision target rifle: 2 to 3 inch groups at 100yds is a realistic expectation with decent ammo and sights in the hands of a good shot. A fun game with the 15-22 is .22 metallic silhouette, but don't be surprised if the guy with the ratty old Marlin bolt rifle outshoots you.

A decent bolt .22LR rifle can take out saltines at 200 yards with good ammo. A great one Necco wafers.
