Default New Ejector Design?

I had my ejector replaced by S&W. The original ejector was the same thickness front to back and somewhat "springing".
The new ejector is 2X as thick at the base and tapers to the original thickness near the top. It is rock solid. Not sure if this is a general upgrade to new rifles or just a replacement change. Attached is a picture.
Update: Position, I notice it is "1/2 whisker" away from the bolt in both directions. Really just enough to clear. Anyone with Failure to eject issues, should reposition their ejector.
Has anyone else seen this ejector variation?
UPDATE:
It seems from the few comments that this design is common, although the original ejector in my 15-22 was as described above.

Your ejector is identical to the ejector in my 15-22 that I purchased new a little over four years ago. How old is your 15-22 that you had S&W work on?

Very strange. I wonder why my original one was different. It was definitely the way I described it. It was the same thickness front to back and springing.

Issues with Failure to Eject, or, Extract? Two different malfunctions that require different corrective measures.

I purchased the 15-22 a week ago and 1st trip to the range had multiple failures to eject. Also had a couple of stovepipes. The gun date is 2020 so I was hoping this missed the recall of all 2019 and prior guns. Not a happy plinker.

I recently bought a 15-22 (3 months ago) and after going nuts on my first day at the range and running about 850 rounds through it, it had a failure to eject every 3rd round or so the next visit at the range. I found this video, followed the advice and now it spits em out like a champ. Hope it helps:
