M&P 15-22 won't cycle. Need to use charging handle every shot
Finally got to the range with my 15-22 to sight it in. I used CCI Quiet-22s (720fps) and ran about 200 rounds through it. I had to use the charging handle to feed a new round for every single shot. I've read about some of the feed & ejection issues, but this seems different. These rounds don't have much power at all and I'm wondering if that's the problem.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Make sure your rifle is cleaned and LUBED really well.

Those low powered rounds aren't for semi auto's(pistol or rifle). Get some standard or high velocity rounds and your rifle will work.

Read the warning on the box. It clearly states it may not cycle semi auto's.

I agree with the responses above. The only time I've had success with the CCI Quiet-22s would be with the rifle suppressed. The additional back pressure definitely gets that bolt a movin'.

The manual for all my semiautomatic firearms chambered in 22LR recommend using High Velocity ammunition for best operation. People here and on other forums have successfully used Standard Velocity ammunition with no issues, including myself.
To run anything slower would require something to create back pressure so that the action will operate, like a suppressor. Low velocity ammunition just doesn't create enough recoil to properly cycle the bolt otherwise.

Yep. I have tried the quiets in every semi auto I own. Won’t cycle the bolt. Says right on the box.

I've tried various subsonic .22lr (including the CCI Quiet) in my SW MP15-22 and none were reliable even with the suppressor mounted.
Standard velocity at a minimum.
The Quiet stuff cycles fine in a Remington 552 Speedmaster.

As noted Quiet 22 will generally not cycle a semi-auto... definitely doesn't work in any of mine.
FWIW, I've found standard velocity .22lr to be just as quiet through my suppressor (Dead Air Mask HD) as any of the super-whoopie 'suppressor' ammo. And more reliable.

CCI makes a couple different “quiet” .22 loads along with numerous other subsonic loads. There is a specific quiet .22 with a 45 grain bullet and 835 FPS rating that is meant for semi autos. That one might cycle your 15-22. The 720 FPS 40 grain bullet is meant for bolt actions or revolvers.

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the thoughts. Sub-sonic ammo was the issue, as I thought & you confirmed. Brain cramp on my part. Always check the box.
