Default Can’t load a full magazine...

I Shot a Mini-Rifle competition yesterday(it’s like Practical Pistol/IPSC) with my 15/22. If I load the magazine to it’s 25 round capacity it will jam. OK so I load say 20 in the magazine. At one medium stage 24 rounds was enough to complete but I was forced to reload because of the magazine issue. Has anyone experienced this magazine capacity issue and how did you get round it?

My magazines function perfectly when fully loaded although I normally just load 10. Might be a breakin issue? These magazines are sensitive to rim lock if the rounds are not loaded carefully to alternate sides. I have purchased a McFadden Machine Lightning Grip loader for mine. The loader with adapter is not cheap, $50 or so, but it eliminates the rim lock problem and is easy to use. I can load 10 magazines fully in just a few minutes, it will load as fast as you can shoot them!

Kp, I use that McFadden Reloader. I can fully reload a magazine with no problem but if I try to shoot a long stage the risk of a jam is greatly increased. If I load 20 it’s ok but that forces a reload. I had thought of cutting the magazine spring but I’m reluctant. Anyone else have this problem?

Do you have your magazines marked where you can determine if this is with one magazine or several?

Check the feed lips of the offending magazine, might be worn out.

When I start having feeding issues with a magazine that was reliable, it's usual worn feed lips and needs replacement.
