Default 15-22 spare parts kit

Bought my first 15-22 and am looking to use it for target practice so I have no desire to do a bunch of mods/upgrades unless there is something specific everyone recommends. I haven't done a lot of rifle shooting but want to start and I'm definitely not going through a bunch of 5.56 right now although I have a standard SW AR.

I have searched and can not find any definitive answer to the following about interchanging parts kits. I want to get a spare parts kit / basically full lower receiver spare parts. Plus basic higher wear parts like a firing pin and ejector

Model 12722 / SKU # 12722 - Slim Handguard with Magpul / M-LOK, Red/Green Dot Optic

Parts:
-Will a regular lower receiver parts kit for an AR fit
-I would guess a standard firing pin and an ejector will not?
-Anything besides an ejector and firing pin I should have on hand.
-Probably replace the charging handle because it looks pretty cheap?

Only add ons:
-I want iron sites preferably co-witness but doesn't look like it can easily be done so just a set of iron. (looks like there are threads on here about changing i'll read up)
-2 point sling which again I'll read through the post.

Customizable Lower Parts Kit, enhanced, complete. Are these just marketing terms or is there a difference.

More of a statement than a question but how the hell do all these different manufacturers make money on their part kits. There must be a lot more ARs out there I had ever imagined.

You have really opened a can of worms, everyone has their own opinion of what modifications to do.
Personally, I have changed the trigger to a CMC 3 1/2 # unit and installed a metal free float fore end using a Tacticool adapter nut. To me, the metal fore end improves the balance of the rifle.
Some standard AR parts will interchange, some won’t. AR triggers will fit with longer pins but not all will reliably ignite rimfire ammo. The CMC will.
Any free float will work, with the Tacticool adapter.
As to spare parts, firing pins and extractors are all I could recommend. Volquartsen makes both. The ejector is fixed to the barrel and is not replaceable but seems to last for ever. I’m right at 20,000 rounds on my rifle, one guy I shoot with is over 50,000 with only firing pin replacement every 15,000 rounds or so.

From what little time I've had with my M&P15-22, I've learned that the entire bolt carrier group is different than that of a standard AR, so the firing pin and ejector are not interchangeable. There are plenty of stories on here and YouTube about extractor/ejector issues with the 15-22 but mostly for the earlier production versions.

As far as a typical parts kit, the trigger parts (MIL-SPEC trigger) should all fit since the trigger group is the same. You can even drop in an aftermarket cassette trigger if you want. Just keep in mind that the trigger pins are a little bit longer than standard because of the thicker walls resulting from molding the lower out of composite and not metal. If you get a set of anti-walk trigger pins, they must specifically state for the M&P15-22.

My rifle came with a set of Magpul flip-up sights that I really like. They mount using the Picatinny rail and mine were zeroed-in at around 20 yards right out of the box. Supposedly adding a red dot is just as easy and you can choose either a 1" riser for "lower third" co-witness or .83" for "absolute" co-witness. I'm on the hunt for a red dot myself and have done a lot of reading/watching about them lately, but I am no expert on them by far.

Good luck!

No doubt the mods can take you down a never ending rabbit hole. I am not really looking to mod anything but want to make sure I have spare parts for major wear items or springs, pins etc. For now Ill stick with a stock trigger. Honestly I want to have the misc things so I don't need to look later if they become hard to find. Plus knowing me Ill drop a damn spring or pin and never find it.

Standard M4 style flip up irons (plastics) will work fine. Some came with Magpul Mbuis sights and earlier ones came with a set of fixed M4 style irons.

About the only spares I've looked into is the extractor parts (spring, plunger, and extractor). The MP-22 has been known to blow those parts out if you don't keep it pretty clean.
