Default barrel bolt removal tool

Have seen a few of these advertised and wondering based on others experience which one would you recommend?
Thanks

Is your rifle a standard milspec barrel and fore end? If you have a custom built rifle, or one with certain options, you may need a barrel nut wrench specific to the fore end's (barrel guard/rail) manufacturer. For instance, Geissele rails require his barrel nut in order to mount to the rifle, and the wrench is different. However, when you buy one of his rails, you get the nut and wrench. I'm not sure who else's brands are similar. The milspec barrel nut fits many aftermarket rails, but check for compatibility.

Here's an example of what you need for the M&P15-22. I don't think it uses a standard barrel nut. I just searched "M&P15-22 Barrel Nut Wrench" to get this example.

Several available. I made my first one from a piece of 1” pipe, then bought one from Tacticool. Whichever you use, don’t make the mistake of clamping the upper receiver for backup. Use a barrel vise instead. The barrel is indexed in the upper receiver with a small key on the barrel extension that engages a slot in the plastic upper receiver. It is very easy to strip this slot and ruin the upper. Voice of experience.

Never hurt my upper/extractor because I do the research before I act. This site has great search feature. I used the conduit method. Worked great. If you do not own tools, I'd go with the Tacticool22.com. He helps this board all the time.
