Use plugs or get a set of low profile muffs like the Peltor 6S’s. It also helps if you can keep your head upright, instead of tilting it over the gun.

Ear plugs or put up with muffs bumping the stock. I do it both ways at times.

That's what low profile ear muffs are for.

Always wear ear protection when shooting ANY firearm regardless of how small of a caliber. Your hearing will thank you years down the road. Trust me.

Um, its a 22, why do you need muffs in the first place?
I shoot with a silencer and "play" without it to hear the awesome crack / echo of an unsilenced but still very quiet 22.
