M&P 15/22 VS Conversion kit?
I have both, A cmmg 22 conversion kit and a M&P 15/22. I like them both, they both shoot very well and are very accurate. I tend to favor the cmmg kit. Just for the ease of cleaning. Any of ya'll have experience with both. Opinions?

The CMMG is good. Drops in, works. Easy to clean. I find mine is not as accurate as a dedicated 22, like my 10-22, nor as accurate as the 223 under the conversion kit, but very fun to use for plinking, and doesn't cost $12-$14 for every 20 rounds.

I have owned a couple of the conversion kits but have not had good accuracy with them. The bullet jump plus the oversized and overtwisted barrel do not equal good accuracy.
I have both 15-22’s and a dedicated long rifle upper on a standard AR. While the dedicated upper is slightly more accurate, I shoot the 15-22 ten times as much.

The conversion kit is handy for testing triggers on existing lowers. But I'd rather shoot 15-22 for fun and accuracy.

I own 4 of them, and, I have never found great difficulty is cleaning the 15-22... Possibly because the 15-22 was my entry way in the AR world...
With that said, like others have said before me, the dedicated profile of the 15-22 seems to be more consistently accurate for me...

My dedicated 9 inch cmmg 22lr is by far more accurate than either of my 15-22 rifles. But is just barely more accurate than my 15-22 pistol. And I'm taking best ammo for any of them.

Have both, prefer the Bravo Kit in my MP Sport2, just because it's full size and weight. Beware you guys putting aftermarket triggers in Conv .22 guns, rimfire NEEDS milspec Hammer Springs/Hammers for reliable ignition, ask me how I know!🤦🏻♂️
PS: The Timney AR10 Comp Trigger is good to go/100% in both my Sport2/CMMG Bravo Kit AND 15-22.👍🏻

I'm new to the .22LR AR rifles. I recently bought a CMMG conversion kit. I've only had it to the range once, but so far I love it!
Is a dedicated .22LR AR style rifle in my future? Maybe?

I shoot steel with my conversion and the 15/22 they both do fine. And the accuracy is dam close, between the two. Both punching one ragged holes in paper out to 50 yds.

I prefer my CMMG dedicated upper. I simply like the weight better and it feels like its big brother in 5.56. However, we also have the M&P 15/22 that I bought for my son. The M&P runs all day without issues, where my CMMG starts to get sluggish at around the 300 round mark. Nothing a quick swipe with a tooth brush and some oil can't fix, but the M&P keeps chugging along without issue.

I have had my 15-22 and pistol for many years and love them both. I got a CMMG conversion and it worked great so I ordered a dedicated Barrel and the collar and built a 4.5” dedicated 22lr AR pistol with a side folding brace. It was so much fun that I built a 20” rifle to go with it. I run the Boonie Packer 15-22 adapter and 15-22 magazines with my CMMG guns. I take out the CMMGs almost every time we go shooting.

I own multiple iterations of both. The conversion is for those who think they'll shift to 5.56 when the balloon goes up. The M&P 15-22 is for those who already know they'll go urban suppressed when the SHTF.
Fired from a rifle, the .22LR is a devastating little pill to swallow - contrary to popular misconception.
I'd opt to hand my secondary and tertiary shooters the M&P because it's super light, astoundingly reliable, even above the legendary 10/22, and more than accurate enough to make urban distance hits.
