I'm sure hoping the Winchester 36gr keeps performing well. 3330 rounds for a Big Mac meal over $100.

I'm thinking the new ones out have the ejector problem already fixed..just gave it a good cleaning before taking it out and everything was perfect...and recent buyers have any problems?

I have 1500 rounds through mine and there are no problems yet.

I bought mine in January, finally got to the range on Thursday. Unfortunately, mine will be going to in for warranty work. The first 20 rds of remmington yellowjacket shot without incident, (i was break-in cleaning and sighting with that ammo.) I switched to winchester super x, started having FTF's(feed) around every tenth round and 2 clip "stovepipes" (round jamming in clip) Switched again to Federal bulk, same results as the win. ammo. I also had I guess what would be a double feed, one round went into the receiver and one ended up on top of the ejector arm. that happened twice.
After about 200 rds, even with the problems (that I trust will be fixed to my satifaction) I had a blast with this weapon. I hadn't shot a rifle since jr high school (25 yrs) and this rifle made me feel like it was yesterday. After getting a little aquainted I felt like it was made for me, even as a lefty shooter. I now understand all the forum posts with you guys talking about your "babies". Can't wait to get it back to shoot some more (and pimp it out).

It’s Baaaack!
I received my 15-22 back from S&W yesterday, blue springs, and they replaced all four magazines. I managed to put 125 rounds through it using all the magazines before I had to make dinner. I had no malfunctions of any kind with Federal bulk ammo.

Did they replace the springs mainly because you had issues or are they doing some type of voluntary recall, do you know? What did they do to the mags? Springs on them too? Thanks in advance.

I just picked mine up two days ago. DTX serial prefix, has a blue star on the manual and the new style magazine but no blue springs. Can anyone decifer all that for me?
Anyway, I'm up to 200 rounds with one FTF which I don't blame on the gun. The 1st 75 rounds were Fed. American Eagle and the rest were Federal 550 bulk. Tomorrow I see the plastic surgeon as I'm concerned the smile on my face may become perminant.

Picked mine up through a LE supply company. Got a great deal and now seeing them sold localy for nearly $600. VERY pleased with my purchase. So far, nearly 400 rounds with no malfunction. I've seen the 25 round mags online for about $20. I've mounted red dot optics and plan to have the barrel threaded for suppresor. That naked barrel is the only critique that I have. The M&P 15-22 is the most fun I've had plunking since the Ruger 10-22.

got mine a couple weeks ago and have put over 1000 rounds through it with only a handfull of ftf's and they were ammo related, doesnt seem to like the sub-sonics to much, but they dont have a large enough charge to operate the rifle. debated between this and the ruger sr22 and feel like i positivley made the right choice!!! upgraded sight system to a tapco red dot and it shoots acurately up to 100 yards or so with the stock extended or colapsed with both eyes open...for a cat like me that is into tacticool and pulling the trigger fast, this rifle rocks!!!!!!

Anyone know if the 10 round magazine 22LR for the M&P15-22 is smaller/shorter than the 25 rd mag? Or are they the same length, just different springs?

What does S&W say about it? Did you take the magazine apart and inspect the sprint and all?

Speaking of... I've seen what look to be pretty good prices at an outfit named The Sportsman's Guide. They have a 'club' discount gimmick that might be worth while. Anyone here a club member or do business with em?

I've done a fair amount of business with them in the past.. mostly hunting stuff & outdoor clothing. No problems, good CS and generally good pricing. I've not been a "club member" though.
I've got a blaze orange, cold weather hunting jacket I bought from them when they first started doing business in the late 70's that's still in perfect condition today.

i've done a lot of business with sportsmans guide the last few year's, mainly gun supplies. they have decent price's, some quality product's, some product's cheaper quality. the price of ammo is about as cheap as you can find with the exception of walmart. shipping depend's on $$$ amount. my last couple of order's i got a great deal on blackhawk holster's(3). they were cheaper than i could find any where on line, and were shipped from blackhawk with no additional charge for shipping. picked up some federal american eagle ae22 at a good price. alway's add the shipping charge along with any other charge to the price of ammo to get the exact price per round. if something is on backorder and i get tired of waiting all you have to do is call and they will cancel. never a problem. the only thing i don't like about them is that they drown you with mail advertisment's at least once or twice a week. if your a club member and sign up for their e-mail, they will send a lot of $10 off coupon's for purchase's over $99.99(?). if you join, join first and then they will e-mail you a $10 off coupon(?). it alway's lower's either the price of the product or the price of shipping.

M&P 15-22
Just picked up my new CA model (10 shot limit mag), took it home, cleaned, slight oil and hauled off to the range. I took 6 different ammo brands that included 30 yr. old Federal Classic, new Federal bulk pack, Winchester, PMC and two brands of cheap Philippine ****. Also included were two kinds of hollow points.
In short, this fantastic gun ate them all without a burp in over 300 rounds. Medium rate fire and rapid fire showed no difference.
This gun has the blue spring with serial DTX 50xx. I am extremely pleased. Very easy to shoot. S&W told me they are working on an actual 10 shot mag. rather than the blocked 20 they now supply in the Democaratic Peoples Republic of California.

What are these blue springs I keep hearing about and where are they located? Does anyone have a photo?

My rifle. Vid shows the stock springs (never sent mine back) and difference between old/new clips. Newer clips have different stamping and tighter clearances where the rounds sit.

I answered my own question:
Spring colour question
Mine has the black or silver springs even though it went back for repairs.

Since July of last year, I've had 4 knee surgeries; both knees scoped last year and on January 12th this year I had a total right knee replacement followed by a total left knee replacement on March 26th. I haven't been to the range for almost a year - consequently I lost my weapons quals at work - a moot point though - since I'm on a medical leave of absence.
Since the first replacement surgery, to fight boredom (and since I don't have any paychecks coming it) I've been trading guns with my gun dealer. Its kind of like we're just trading inventories; his for mine and vice a versa. One of the guns I've traded for is an M&P15 .22.
Today I finally made it to the range with three new guns; a Kimber Tactical Pro II, a semi-auto Sterling 9mm carbine, and the M&P. I didn't shoot the S&W until last so I was starting to feel the pain and discomfort in my knees so I rushed through it. First range trip for me is to make sure the gun functions and will hit the target; not ready to shoot one hole groups. I took 3 different ammos with me today - didn't get to the Remington; the Ely Sport is a big negative - made the gun into a single shot, very light primer strikes on the round chambered after one round is shot. The CCI Blazers ran like a champ; I've never rapid fired a .22 rifle as fast as I did the M&P. I shot around 30 rounds before the body said stop; standing at 10 yards. Like I said, I wasn't going for single hole groups. The gun did shoot low and I didn't have anyway to adjust the front sight so I need to work on that next time out. Here's my target:
No surprises, a basic M&P 15 .22.
I like my little tactical .22s; I have a GSG5 Pistol; Colt M4 .22; Professional Ordnance Carbon 15 .22, and am waiting for a SigSauer 522 to trade for.

Rear Sight Elevation Adjustment
You couldn't get the point of impact up enought using the rear sight elevation adjustment? You actually need to adjust the front sight?

I didn't adjust any sights rear or front. I'm not an AR sight savvy guy so I guess I need to read the owner's manual again...

+1 That was my exact deciding factor. I can't afford an AR yet and it would cost too much to get the 10/22 even close to the same cool factor.

I fell for that gimmick, but I'm not sorry. Their prices are pretty good and shipping about average on price.
Be forewarned though, their return policy/service is abissmal. I ordered a belt and holster from them and got a belt too small. The return shipping plus restocking fee would have eaten up 2/3 of the cost. Oh well, I need to lose a few pounds anyway.

Just got my scope, riser, and vertical grip today. I like the way they look and can't wait to get to the range to zero it in.
Sorry about the quality (iPhones rule, but he camera sucks)

It's been a long and complicated wait, but I picked up my15-22 yesterday. Ran home on lunch, deboxed it, loaded up two mags, threw it all in the quicky range bag and dumped the first 50 rounds through it as quick as I could since I was on my lunch.
Then I said "eff it", bought another 500 rounds and burned another 150 or so before I figured I should get back to the office.
Went back today after work and brought the round count up to 500 or 600.
For the record, it's the pimped out Magpul edition (it was only like 40 bucks more than the base model at the shop where I got it) with the CTR 6 position stock, Magpul flip up sights and the MOE pistol grip.
The Magpul stuff is really nice. The BUIS sights needed to be dialed all the way down (darn near) for elevation. No change made to windage.
For me, aimed and rapid fire all stayed within an area the size of a playing card (I'm a lazy shooter, too used to all the gunnery shenanigans tanks have). Girlfriend was consistently doing groups less than half that size. My friend, who came up to the range while we were shooting, was dumping everything into one of those little black circles that come with the splatter targets (about an inch, maybe), so I know the weapon works without me (dang showoff girlfriend).
Magpul stick is a little rattle-y, so I think it's commercial on a mil-spec tube. Not enough to make any difference.
It's got blue springs on the bolt and trigger group, SERNO DUA9xxx.
One OOB fire (which always sucks when you're left handed). Three stove-pipes, but to be fair that was toward the end, so the gunk was building up.
All this was done out of the box, no CLP, no quick clean, since everything I've read here and other places since the original 15-22 came out led me to believe that it was either gonna hork up quick or run like a spotted arsed ape.
I'm gonna do a quick wipe down tmr night, the off to the gun club to see if I can get the round count over 1200.
Thanks to all of you for providing me the information over the last several months to make an educated purchase and tell all those Sig 522 lovers to bite me.
/and yes, I've already ordered some accessories. It is a sickness.

I just picked up the same gun, shot about 300 federal American eagle ae22, only one ftf.
My girlfriend is left handed, and I'm nervous about her shooting it. You said you had a OOB and you were shooting left handed.
First question, I guess your OK??? Lol
And what ammo were you using?
Were you shooting quick or taking your time when it happened?

Got My .22!
It is comforting to see similar experiences with the Colt M4 .22 Ops because I really like the photos online. I paid over $550 for the Colt M4 .22 today and when I got to my house, I noticed the dust cover did not function, bolt release was cosmetic, dirt in the chamber, metal surfaces looked oxidized and over all appearance was not up to the standard M4 I am used to in the military. I was very disappointed. Then, I read these post and got a refund, purchased the M&P 15/22 and it is AMAZING! Tonight I will be adding vertical grip, bi-pod, single point sling. Any advice on good optics that do not cost $500? i.e. EOTECH, Trijicon...Thank you S&W, this AR will look great with my M&P .40!

I have at least 1000 rounds through ours with no malfunctions. It was used and I'm not sure how much the previous owner shot it, it looked brand new. Very pleased with the M&p15-22. Don't really miss my Sig 522 at all.

I could not help myself,, here is a photo of my new girl. I was very impressed with the grouping at 50 yrds from a factory barrel. Next on the list...Laser and flashlight. Any suggestions on affordable laser that can be seen in daylight up to 50 yards? Keep it up S&W!
