I picked one of these up at Academy in early Aug for $449. They had 3 in stock at the time. I ordered 3 extra mags from S-W on 20 Aug and got a quick response back with my order number. Nothing happened for a week, so I called them on 27 Aug and was told they had been back ordered, but some had just arrived and were being shipped. They must have ran out before they filled all the back orders, because I haven't heard anything yet and it hasn't been charged to my credit card. The M&P cost more than I had planned to spend on a 22, but I'm happy with it.

Congrats on your M&P 15-22. Seems like several have found one at Academy.
I also ordered some mags in late August. Got a post card saying on BO. They showed up on my door step Sept. 2nd. Shipped FedEx. I called and reordered a couple more on 9-3. Guy in customer service said they were in stock and my new order should ship first of next week.

Thanks for the info. I'll be calling them Monday to check on my order. When I called them on the 27th, I don't think they actually checked it, just told me they were in and were being shipped. When I ordered online on 20 Aug, I immediately got an email confimation of the order. I haven't received a post card or email saying they were on BO, absolutely nothing since the 20th. I've made a lot of purchases online, and this is the worst service I've had. Well, at least they haven't charged me yet, and the one mag I have is easy to reload. It ain't all bad.

For 27 Beck, or anybody who has received extra mags for the M&P15-22:
Have you noticed any difference at all between the one(s) you ordered vs the original? Better, worse, identical? Thanks in advance.

|
Well, you got me there. I guess the answer is NO. But, buying guns is a lot like buying cars. It's not always about what is most economical, but what you want and can afford. For the price of a Corvette, I could probably buy 2 Mustangs. They're both reliable, can go fast, are a lot of fun, etc. Does that mean I shouldn't buy a Corvette just because the Mustang is cheaper? If money is the main consideration, maybe yes. If what I want (and can afford) is the main thing, then I'll get what I want. If what I really want is a Corvette, why should anybody have a problem with it?
As for the 10/22, I'm not going to knock it (standard model). It is probably one of the most reliable guns sold in the last 20 years. But, that's not what I wanted. I will knock the 10/22 tactical model. I looked at it, and just don't think it's good looking or functional. If I just wanted a 22 for plinking, I've got a Nylon 66 that I've owned for almost 45 years that is still in excellent condition. I paid $30 for it in 1964 or 65, so I know about spending wisely. I didn't really need another 22, but I wanted one, and the M&P is the one I wanted. BTW, I'm not a Ruger basher. Before I bought the M&P 22, I already had a Ruger Mini 14. Could have spent a lot more on a AR-15 type 223, but the Mini is what I wanted. It's not always about the money, it's about being able to do what you want to do. There's no rain on my parade.

i maybe taking mine back to Academy today, and they'll have to send it off to S&W. Got it Thursday, ive shot probally 100rds or so, and had several FTF's. I didnt clean it when i first got it, not sure if that has anything to do with it??..but i'll be shooting, and click..i'll pop out the FTF round, and try again, and nothing, actaully bent the bullet last time. I just tried it this morning, put about 15 rounds in the clip, 1 at a time, and had like 3 hicups. So i dunno, im not to happy.

At the moment I am unable to make a comparison. My 15-22 and the mag are at the local store awaiting repair parts for the gun.
When the repair is complete and I have the gun back, I will look at the OE mag and compare with the ones I received last week from S&W. I'll post more info then.

Glad your having good luck with yours. I wish i could, id love to fill up a clip, and fire all of em without a issue, but i cant even shoot 5rds it seems with hicup after hicup. Cleaned the gun, still does it, maybe it could a problem with the magazine, but i dunno. Taking it back in a bit, and hopefully, when i get it back, it will work flawless. This is my first S&W product, and for me to be having the issues, doesnt make me very.ummmmm impressed with there quility. But if they do me right, and fix my gun, and i have no more issues, i'll be more than happy with it.

Hey this may seem like a silly question but...did ya strip n clean before firing? Mine was full of packing gunk and extractor was really clogged up with goop. I cleaned all the **** out prior to firing and it seems to eat the CCI's well although I have not tried anything else yet.

Some of these .22s are very picky about the ammo they digest. Especially when new. Federal bulk packs (the 550 round boxes), CCI mini mags seem to work the best. Mine was getting better each time I used it, (till it broke, )
When I say these .22s, I also include the Colt and the dedicated uppers.
Also, are you loading one round at a time, like the manual says to do?

I dont know if it was something with the mag or what, i dunno how many bullets it dented or actaullly bent the actually bullet from it jamming, etc.

Hope you get it back and shooting it soon. If it were mine, I would have bought some CCI MiniMags. If it still had the same problem, then I would have taken it back. These guns are ammo choosy.
Is Academy going to fix it locally or send it back to S&W?

Well Academy has a BS Return policy, i dunno about anybody else, but they wont refund or exchange a firearm, it would have been nice if they would have just exchanged my gun for another one for me. But noooo. Anyway, they said they would Fedex it to S&W. Which probally wont be until Tuesday because of the Holiday.

Yeah, most stores won't let you return or exchange a firearm. I can understand their reasoning, but it sucks that something that new has to be repaired instead of replaced.

yeah, same here, i mean, i figure, they can exchange a gun for me, send the Defective back to S&W. But im a gun ive had for 4 days, and have no clue when i'll get it back, and sure hope the next or repaired one, works flawlessly. Never had to send in a gun before, so we shall see, ive really heard nothing but good things on these guns, maybe i just got 1 out of some many with a flaw.

btw, i did try some cci ammo also, gave me the same issue, as with all the others, jamming ,misfiring, etc. Bent several rounds, like the tip of the bullet, the lead end, actually bent it crooked, as in that bullet wasnt good anymore, did several that way, glad it didnt go boom in the gun..kinda dangerous.

new 15-22 owner
Found mine on the rack a few days ago at a local gunshop, $419, last of 6 they'd ordered. Grabbed it after seeing the groups fired from it online and one of the Umarex M4geries they also had on the rack. They had a handful, but only one 15-22 left. That says something. The Colt-branded Umarex bothered me due to the funky changes that were made from the standard AR layout, as well as the cracks reported in some of the receivers. Oh, and $35 magazines. The weight of the 15-22 better fits a .22 also. I went online and ordered a half-dozen magazines, $20/ea, and got a tracking number the next day. Should arrive this coming week. Well, I had to fill those AR-15 pouches, didn't I? The one that came with the rifle is as stout as any I've seen, even PMAGs. Now it's time for a few spares, like firing pin, extractor and plunger and spring, that sort of thing. I am looking forward to a threaded barrel becoming available, as well as 10 round magazines for the bench. S&W said the 10 rounders would become available in October when the so-called Compliant rifle goes on sale.

M&P 15-22 Skunk no.7 fell last night
Mounted a S&W 3.5-10X scope on the 15-22 and tried 9 ammos off of bags from my 50 meter bench this morning. I am a bit disappointed in the results. Aguila Super Extra 40gr standard velocity is the only ammo that 10 shots would stay within 1 inch. Federal Champion high velocity, Federal Classic HVHP, PMC Moderator subsonic and Federal AutoMatch were next at 1.5 inches. My main skunk ammo Federal Value Pack 36gr HP came in under 2 inches for 25 rounds. CCI Standard Velocity, CCI Blazer and some 20 year old Remington High Velocity were in the 2.5 to 3 inch range for a 10 shot group.
I fired 30 (50 for Federal Value Pack) rounds of each ammo for a total of 290 rounds with zero malfunctions. Out of about 1250 rounds fired so far, I've only had 3 malfunctions were the round is stuck protruding vertically from the magazine.
Definitely not a match grade rifle but certainly a fun plinker good enough for tin cans.....or skunks.

Ahhhhhhh!! Like a kid on Christmas I finally found a 15-22 Shopped about a dozen stores over the weekend and nothing. Then said eff it and decided to go try my favorite place again and they had gotten their FIRST one ever in on saturday. Took it right there on the spot. Cant wait to get it all oiled up and to the range!

That's terrible news about the few faulty ones but I'm sure the percentage rate is small on failures.
I still have yet to get one but I'm in no rush.
I have a charger, 10/22, and a Mark III so I have plenty of .22's but man, do I want an AR type gun.
Never owned one before but do plan on purchasing the Ruger SR-556 next year.
15-22 comes first.
Have about 7k rounds of federal bulk to shoot through it when it gets here.
My two extra mags come in Wednesday as well.
Should be all set for when the gun arrives.
Take care

i was lookin at some vids on Youtube, i didnt watch them yet, cause i have dailup, but i read some comments, looks like most are happy, but i did see atleast one that had the same issues with jamming etc. I sure miss my gun, but i hope it comes back, or they send me a new one, that works flawlessy, and i can have some fun.

I'm sure S&W will expedite your repair because this is a new, hot item.
I purchased a new S&W500 several years ago and noticed a slightly bent rear sight. Took it back to my dealer and he had it back in 7 days including intransit. Make sure your dealer has a tracking number and follows up with S&W.

7K rounds of Federal bulk? No wonder I can't find any.
All you need now is the 15-22 and you will be good to go.

Talked to Academy today, and the manager gave me the UPS tracking number for it, said he was taking it to UPS himself, and that he was going to talk to his buyers that buys there guns from S&W, and they where gonna see if they could put a push on my gun, get it back to me faster, i had called S&W this morning and they said once they get it, they try to get them in and out within 10 days.

Mine was jamming the non plated bullets on the feed ramp complete with bent bullet and dented case. Polished up the feed ramp with flitz and one sore finger tip later no more jamming!

well, maybe they'll fix mine, and it'll work as it should have in the first place, you buy a gun, you shouldnt have to do stuff like Polish this or that, should shoot right the first time. I had several of the bent bullets with mine.

I agree, the gun should work out of the box. But reading on other forums, the Colt and even the dedicated uppers all seem to benefit from polishing the ramp area.
