Being I just took it out for it's first spin yesterday I might wait until I'm satisfied the rifle is fairly solid before having the threads cut into it.
I'd love to see a picture of yours, it might even motivate me into getting it done quicker? I had several people asking if this was indeed the M&P .22 everyone has been talking about? When I told them yes, they started talking like they were going to the local gun shop and ordering one for them-self. But one did point out the barrel was naked looking (go figure) without something on the end? I told him I'd seen one with a fake suppressor can on the end, but I wanted a flash hider on mine. The general consensus was they loved the rifle.
But I do appreciate your help. And I look forward to the photo of your rifle. Thanks.

Took me longer than I had intended to get these pics up.
My 15-22 is currently at S&W for replacement of a missing extractor. We will see if the flash suppressor interferes with warranty fixes.

Tapco Composite Rail Riser
For those of you adding scopes...
Got a Tapco 'composite' rail riser today.
3/4 inch rise. 5 1/2 inch long. Non see-thru
Full length clamp bar (rather than just small tabs that are on many risers).
Large composite head thumb screws. And much to my surprise, they have added internal tension springs so when you loosen the thumb screws the clamp bar moves straight out too (rather than hanging and snagging the rail as you try to remove as many other risers typically do)
Rock solid mount.
Finish matches 15-22 perfectly

Actually, I do have a holographic sight. There's a pic of it on my rifle in the "Pictures" thread. It's a Sightmark reflex. Out of the box it is a perfect co-witness with the factory S&W sights. The red dot (there are four different rectiles to chose from) displays right on top of the front sight. I have had it on and off the rifle a few times and it always holds zero. Some say that the Sightmark can hold up to center fire ammo, but I highly doubt it.
Now that I have the Tapco riser, I've mounted a 3-9x scope. The 3/4 inch riser allows me to use the scope without mashing my face into the stock.
Speaking of "factory" S&W sights... has anyone seen the UTG removable sights? Looks like S&W may have been shopping from the UTG parts bin to build their 15-22.
Anyway.... I'm going to get a UTG flip-up rear sight. It should just slide under the 3-9x scope.

Barska seems to have a decent reputation. A 3-9X is pretty hard to beat at the range. The more I look at the mid and lower priced optics, it seems like I keep seeing the same product with just a different decal on it. BSA, UTG, Leapers, Barska, Sightmark... on and on.
I've added some more items.... green laser is next.

I'm considering a green laser from Primary Arms. Below is a link to a discussion about it.
I am also looking at a VTAC offset mount that hugs closer to the rail than other mounts I have seen. Since the Primary Arms laser is rather large, 1 x 4 5/8, I would want it mounted as close as possible to the rail. At $69, it's priced right for entertainment purposes,
Also, the Laserlyte K-15 looks like a great performer. Though it has a double wide body, the way it mounts keeps it from hanging far from the rail as regular tube style lasers tend to do. It's pricey to mount on a .22... I might have to buy it for my Bushmaster and then lend it to the 15-22 (grin).

I think the K-15 only requires the cable when the switch is in the "momentary" position.

Speaking of Laserlyte... they make a subcompact laser- FSL. It really is miniture-- about the size and dimension of the base portion of the 15-22 sight. The FSL lens appears to sit low enough on the rail that I'm thinking it could be mounted 'behind' the front sight, and that the beam would go through the hole in the sight base. It would be very stealth compared to the monster lasers I've been looking at. Though, the FSL would probably be of little use other than for my dog to chase around the living room.
There's a Eastman Gun Show gun show in Dalton, GA next week. Hopefully I will be able to eyeball some of the products I'm considering.

yeah, i love my green laser, its real easy to see in the daytime, makes target shooting pretty fun to me. Especially wiht my pistol. Cause im not good at all with the regular sights on it. But with the laser im pretty dead on the bullseye with it.

Phil,
I could not find your picture posting (there are a bunch of picture threads...). Can you tell me the model number of the Sightmark? I am interested in models that will co-witness with the factory sights, Sightmark or others.
Thanks!

Sightmark SM13003B. Sitting on the rail with no riser, it will put the dot right on top of the front sight.
The good:
Once set, holds zero. Holds zero when switching among the 4 rectiles. Holds zero after mounting and dismounting.
Small (2MOA I think) red dot allows for 50 yards and beyond target shooting without covering up the bullseye. Most of the inexpensive red dots I have seen are the much larger 5MOA dots. So if you're looking for something smaller than 5MOA, the Sightmark might be of interest.
Not so good:
Rectile fades more in direct sunlight than the tube-type red dots, especially if the Sun is from behind. Most of my shooting is at covered stations so the Sun doesn't matter. But If you are going to be shooting in the open during bright daylight, then the Sightmark holographic might not be as good as other red dot setups.
Price: I have seen as low as $40 and as high as $80.

I have the same sight on my 15-22. I agree it is the perfect accent for the factory sights. I purchased mine at: Cheaper Than Dirt - America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter for $39.99. I also purchased a front handle from them. I am planning a light next. Pictures to follow later.

Here is the flash hider that I got for my 15-22 after seeing it on a You Tube video it is made for the 10-22 but fits the 15-22 it just slides on and has a set screw on the bottom in the video it looked very good I cant speak first hand on it as my S&W is back at Smith to fix the blown up extractor however I did order and receive the flash hider and it looks well made. Here is the link to ebay where I purchased it.

Can you measure the inside diameter? I'd like to know approximately how close it is to fitting well on the 15-22 barrel.
Thanks!

Just picked mine on Saturday. Put about 300 rounds of walmart federal bulk pack through it. Not one hickup.
Being a southpaw shooter, the first accessory I've added is a Norgon ambi-catch that I had sitting around for another lower. Fits and functions perfectly.
I'm hoping to find a solution for a ambi safety selector. I don't really want to just swap the standard selector around. I'm tempted to try and modify an existing selector using the parts from a standard ambi selector. But I'm reluctant to pull out the file and drill until I know I can get a replacement if needed.
I have a couple of trigger sets that I could throw in it (standard stag single stage and a RRA NM 2 stage), but I'll probably hold out for a better setup like a AR Gold or Giselle SSA.
Other accessories on order are Magpul MBUS (front and rear), CTR stock, MIAD grip (with AR10 gapper), Larue FUG, and eventually a Eotech XPS2.0.

I chose the Mako because of the shape. Not only does in fit my hand well, but the way it is cut, when folded up, it does not get in the way for a full grip on the rail. And because my hand is positioned between the rail and grip, I can just simply push down and and the grip will lock into position. It requires a push button to fold up. It's also designed with what Mako describes as a "safety extension" which is a good feature if mounted close to the muzzle... like on a pistol or bullpup rifle.

I put the camera on the scope and zoomed in pretty tight I think 8x. So it looks really close.

Try this site, Command Arms Command Arms Pivot Bipod Vertical Grip
Slightly more expensive, but have in stock.
Oops, correction.... They're also sold out. Sorry.

I bought mine from a local gun store for my AR-15 about 2 years ago. I want another one also and I can not find it anywhere.

S&W M&P 15-22 Trigger
Has anyone tried upgrading the trigger on the MP15-22?

Yes. I put a Rock River Arms National Match 2 stage trigger in my 15-22. Drops right in. Great improvement.

Yeah, The pics of the target are with a Rock River 2 stage. Now I have installed a Geissele 2 stage trigger on it. Will shoot it in a few days but I can tell you that the Rock River felt wierd on the 15-22 and not on my AR-15. The Geissele trigger felt great with no barrel pulling. Will post videos and pics Sunday night. The trigger was $279.
