Default Any solvent woe's for M&P?

Now that I've got a "plastic handgun", I need to worry about maintaining it. Any solvents/lubes I should stay clear of in fear of damaging the poly frame/finish?

If you clean your gun using "Gunscrubber" use the can with the Silver top which is synthetic or polymer safe. I have been using it on my two M&P's(357Sig & 9mm) and I must say it does a great job and dries fast too especially when using compressed air.

+1 on the Gunscrubber. I also use CLP to clean and lube. I use Hopps 9 on the barrel and slide but keep it away from the plastic frame, I think it even warns against the use on plastic frames on the bottle.

I wonder if DEET, the stuff found in bug repellant, would be an issue? I know that certain manufacturers of AR magazines warn against getting DEET on their product.

Ok Thanks, so it sounds like I should be extremely careful with any solvent around the gun unless it's specificly made for these guns. That's what I was afraid of :-(

I've emailed S&W on this issue and they recommended keeping Hoppes #9 powder solvent away from the polymer.

They also said Breakfree CLP should be fine for use on polymer, so that's what I use on the frame.

Thanks again, Breakfree is my lube/presertive of choice for most of my guns. I'll have to be extra careful with the solvents I guess.
