M&P 45 trigger

I picked up an M&P 45 full size today in the dark earth color. I love the gun but I'm wondering about the trigger. When I pull it back it sounds and feels like its scraping the inside of the slide. Is this normal?

The trigger bar contacts the striker plunger safety almost immediatly in the pull cycle. As you continue to pull, the plunger is driven up into the slide to clear the way for the striker to fall. What your likely hearing is the plunger moving in it's recess. Take the slide off and depress the plunger by hand and see what it sounds like. I posted a link in the S&W smithing forum recently that shows how to polish this piece and the trigger train in general. Of course, your may just need a little cleaning in this area too.

Yes. Live fire or dry fire several hundred times and it will smooth up nicely.

The M&P is very easy to smooth up, either by polishing or firing. My MP45 has gotten much better after a few hundred rounds. BTW, the more I fire it the more I love it. It has taken over bedside duty, as well as 3 gun duties.

I just got a M&P45 in a trade. This used gun reportedly has about 500 rounds through it and the trigger is quite smooth. I've been a die hard fan of another polymer gun maker but this gun is changing my mind. The ergonomics are much better than the other guy's, even for a double-stacked .45. Accuracy is great, too. I'm thinking about getting a compact 9 M&P as a little brother.
