S&W99 45 ACP was made before the M&P pistols.

If I remember correctly the M&P 40 was first in 2005, followed by the M&P9 and then the 45 ACP.

so it was only produced for a short period. Didnt Smith have to stop making this design due to the Glock lawsuit, or was it something else?

The S&W99 was introduced in 1999 and was a collaboration between S&W and Walther. I don't think the Glock fiasco was a factor.

No real major issues...it's a variant of the 99-series which have generally been very reliable.

The Glock lawsuit dealt with the S&W Sigma, not the SW99 series.
