Default 9mm barrel compatibility question

Will a full size 9mm barrel fit in the compact model without any problems? .....for the M&P of course.

Probably not. They are a little fatter at the muzzle where they get tight. It would probably be loose and wouldn't hit very well.

No, as stated the muzzle is larger where it meets the slide. The longer barrel would move around in the short slide.

Barrel doesn't seem stepped at the muzzle at all. It is perfect in battery. Not at all loose.
It fits a little tight when locked open but nothing excessive. I haven't tried shooting it since I own a fullsize, but I suspect it would need to broken in to be reliable.

Is there a reason you would want to do this? (port the longer barrel maybe?)
