Default M&P Compact & Laser Recommendations

Just picked up a M&P-9mm compact with a thumb safety. Would have gotten a Crimson Trace laser for it but I see now it won't fit the thumb safety model. Did a bit of checking and found some others. What do you guys have and recommend as an alternative?

Arma Laser: Rail Mount RSS-A Tactical Holsters
LaserLyte: Rear Laser Sight RL-MP
Insight Tech Gear: Rail Mount w/Light X2L
Laserlyte: Rail Mount - Quick Detachable

LASERLYTE REAR SIGHT LASER ALL S&W M&P - LLRL-MP

Insight Technologies Tactical Light w/ Laser for XD - INTX2L

LASERLYTE SUB-MINI RAIL MOUNT LASER - LLFSR00V2140

ARMA LASER RSS LASER SIGHT FOR PT-145 PF-9 24-7 P30 HK45 M&P SIG - KTKRSSA

Thank you in advance.

I have the laserlyte rear sight. Works great, except if you put the laser on flash after the first shot the laserlyte is on steady. Thought that would be a problem but after thinking about it for a few seconds I concoulded I perfer the steady light after the first

Couple of questions.

Quote:
Powered by four 377 batteries, commonly used in watches, that provide one hour of run time on constant on and two hours in pulse mode.
According to their web site, the battery only lasts about 1 hour. How hard is it to change the battery? Do you have to remove the sight?

Quote:
The activation switch is a strategically placed button at the back of the slide that is easily activated by the thumb in a normal shooting position for left- or right-handed shooters. First press of the activation switch produces the constant on mode, second press produces pulse mode, and third press deactivates the laser. A small LED on the back of the laser indicates if the laser is on and what mode it is in.
I like the concept of the Crimson Trace since grasping the grip will automatically turn on the laser. Do you find this sight POA/POI is as good as the stock sight?

Just be aware that the rail on the compacts is shorter than the FS if you go with a rail mount. I know I'm not alone in discovering some lights don't fit the M&P compacts. (Reason being that some accessories hit the trigger guard before they can engage the locking slot in the rail.)

Greetings,
As my post count shows,I don't get down yonder very often but this is a sbject that has got my interest.I am picking up a M&P 9c today for my wife to use as a nightstand pistol and as far as I can tell, the X2 series is the only light that the Compact models can use.
Am I wrong?

Regards,
DAT85

Hi, Crimson Trace has one. It's CMR-201 Rail Master. I just ordered it, so I can't recommend it yet. But you might want to check it out. Let us know what you think if anyone tries it. I'll post after I get mine and shoot with it.

Love my Crimson Trace Rail Master Laser. Fits perfectly, its bright, and stays zeroed in after shooting.

Default internal laser on recoil spring?

Why not an internal laser inside the recoil spring? Any good or bad points on using that?
