Default M&P Sear Question

My apologies if this belongs in the gunsmithing section...

Is the factory sear on the M&P guns durable enough for a trigger job? I'm assuming since it's MIM it's not just surface hardened but the same hardness throughout.

They are and if you do a Google search you will find step by step instructions on how to do it however. your better off buying a new drop in sear that has the correct geometry and a new safety plunger to complete the job for about $60 from Apex Tactical. True drop in job and takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

I don't know, but I've ordered both. I'll let you know when I get them installed. I've downloaded the videos on installation. Doesn't look too hard.

I agree you will be well served with the Apex sear, based on my limited experience. It works as advertised and the only qualm I have is that the trigger pull in my M&P9L is actually a bit too light for my taste. If I carried the gun, I would not use it. For the range, it is fine. Installation is no problem, but do watch putting it back together. You can bend the parts if you don't get them properly lined up and force them. Reassembly takes nothing more than finger pressure.

I think Apex now has another sear that gives a better quality pull than the factory parts and ends up in the range of 5-6#. There is a thread here about it that should be easy to find with a search.
