New to me M&P in .40, FINALLY AT HOME!
Finally got my new toy home. This is probably the best feeling pistol I have felt in hand. No rounds fired yet but, man it just fits. This is my first striker fired pistol but with dry firing it feels real good. Will do the Apex kit when it gets in stock and change out the 3 dots (yuck).
While I wait for the wonderful state of Kalifornia to say O.K. to my latest purchase, I was looking in to buying the Apex kit and some mags. I cannot see a downside to the Apex kit, the reviews are all favorable. Where can I buy mags at a good price? Any other suggestions to improve on the M&P?

Apex parts will be the single biggest improvement on your gun.
If your M&P does not have a manual safety, I recommend the duty kit.
I installed the hard sear and striker block on my M&P 40C. Reduced the trigger pull to 3 pounds exactly. Too light for a gun without a manual safety. But mine does have one so I'm fine.

I saw on the S&W site a version with a safety. Is it an easy retrofit? Its not a carry gun so we'll see what I think after the Apex kit.

Midway has M&P S&W mags for $34. They also have a listing for them from another company, C Products, for $15, due in stock soon. I don't know anything about this company. Has anyone tried anything from this company?

I use C Products in my AR15 but haven't used their pistol mags. Feed perfect, no issues at all.

S&W has a "2 more free mags with every M&P" offer right now. That will get you 4 mags. If you want more, I'd just get them from S&W.
BTW, Does your CA gun have the 10# trigger like MA does?
IF so, what you want is the Apex hard sear and a 48 state spring (from Brownells) to get a crisp 5# trigger.

Not sure what trigger it has. CA has a 10 round mag law but nothing on triggers.

Welcome fellow Kommiefornian...
Express Police Supply has the 10 round 40's for $24.99. They are genuine S&W mags.
I have bought 9mm's from them.

I got a couple of 17-rd 9mm mags for $21.95 each at Streicher's in Butler, WI...it took a long time, but worth the wait. I imagine the .40's are about the same...
