Default MP9 Thumb Safety too big

MP9. Love the handling of this carry pistol. I like the idea of the ambidextrous safety, but hate the size of the thing. I will keep one in the chamber so I want the thumb safety for the safe handling thing is desired, but the size of that safety switch makes the width of the MP9 about ½ + inch wider. The take down and the locking switches are fine. With the thumb lever a little smaller I feel it will be just as safe, (maybe a little safer for the pocket carry in holster). Can I file down the thumb switch to be about a 1/2 or 1/4 the current size on the left side of the pistol and almost remove the right side? Will it void the warranty? Or should I leave good enough alone?

I never had a problem with the size of the safety. It was something to get use to when I lock my slide back but I think that size is just right. Don't want to miss that thing when I'm drawing down on a BG.

Heck it's your gun, break out the Dremel if you feel the need but give a bit of range time before you do, ya never know you just might get used to it.
