Default Tactical Light for M&P

Hello all, I am looking for suggestions as to a tactical light for my M&P 40. I have never had a light on a handgun so I am completely new to whole idea. I just think since I keep the M&P as my primary HD weapon it would be beneficial to have a light on it. Any and all suggestions would be appriciated. Thanks, Malachi

My M&P40 has a Streamlight TLR-1 on it. Great light for the money IMO.

For a few bucks more, you can get the TLR-1s which has 30 more lumens than the regular TLR-1 and has a strobe function.

This is the model I'm using. I'd say it's worth the asking price and more.

I really like my Streamlight TLR-2, however if I were to do it all over again I believe a Surefire may be a better option.

I have a Streamlight TLR-1, like the fact that it's machined aluminum, not plastic and man is it bright!

Forget the big clunky unintuative lights and go with a Crimson Trace Lightguard, it's sleek, holsters easily available to accommodate it in case you decide to carry it and adds virtually no weight to the gun. No manipulating a light with your trigger finger (never understood how anyone would think that is acceptable).

Yes I have a strong opinion on the light and no I do not work for Crimson Trace. Lol

That lightguard from CT looks slick. Too bad they don't have one for the compact.

Not many options for the compact frame

I came across a TLR-1 and TLR-3 at a gun show yesterday. I was about to Buy the TLR-3 but the seller was asking $175. Another vendor that had the TLR-1 was asking $120. I'm kicking myself in the *** for not buying the TLR-1.

Mt TLR-4 was delivered yesterday...too bad I'm out of town right now so I cannot comment...yet. Got it for $107 plus free shipping from Amizon. Not too bad for laser/light combo.

Very good deal. I really like that combo. I know is not aluminum as the TLR2 but is way less expensive and wonderful.

I tried not to laugh at the asking price. I was really interested in it until that moment.

That is what I needed to see. None of the local fellows have TLR 3s or 4s in stock and I've been paranoid they won't fit my compact. Gonna have to order one of those and see if I can find anyone to do some kydex to fit it.

I got the Streamlight TLR-1 to switch between a S&W M&P 9 and a M&P 15 with a free-floating rail.
