I have a new M&P 9c, no manual safety, which I bought for concealed carry.

A gunsmith at my range measured the trigger pull at about 6 pounds, before putting any rounds through it, which is fine for me in a concealed carry gun. He said that it would probably go down somewhat, perhaps to 51/2 pounds, after putting a bunch of rounds through it.

Although the trigger seemed reasonably OK after firing it, I would like to smooth it out a bit and bring back the reset, without, however, reducing the trigger weight.

My question is whether the Apex kit will accomplish my goals without reducing the weight of the trigger?

What do you mean by ''bring back the reset'' ? If you don't reduce trigger weight by changing springs, you shouldn't adversely affect reset----IMHO.

Look on the Apex Tactical Specialties site. They have a trigger kit called the Duty/Carry action enhancement kit (DCAEK). Says it makes a smooth, consistent 5-5.5 lb trigger pull with shorter over-travel and reduced reset.

I have a 45c that had a gritty 6-7lb trigger on it new. Shot a few hundred rounds through it and the trigger smoothed out to about 5.5-6 lbs with some creep.

Put in an APEX hard sear and a USB. Trigger pull now is crisp and reset is fast. On a Lyman trigger pull gauge it is: 4.5lbs and it has transformed this gun for me from another tupperware pistol, to a real shooter. This is the ONLY semi-auto I carry for defensive purposes.

Too lazy to find the gauge, but I ended up with Apex "Carry" kits on two M&P40's - one FS and one Compact. The Compact is superb this way (and the trigger pull is indeed somewhat reduced). The FS needs a little more lubrication & such, but still helped out.

S&W should buy Apex () and supply the guns with this kit installed.

(The kit's pretty simple, but you do want a roll pin punch, and the sear return spring is extremely tiny, as is the plunger. I have no idea why I didn't manage to lose the plunger....)

Installed on my M&P9, Did not check before and after pull, did not need to, I can tell you it is alot lighter trigger pull and smooth as teflon as well, Best $80 I ever spent.Good craftsmanship on parts.Just buy the whole kit...

I recently put the Apex TRS and sear spring w/the factory sear and it raised the trigger pull about 1-1.5 lbs as advertised (which is what I was trying for). Also greatly improved trigger reset feel/click. I just got a S&W factory Massachusetts TRS that I'm going to put in. I like around an 8-9lb trigger pull on carry guns.

No, I got it from a fellow on the M&P forum. Just FYI, it did not work, I ended up putting the Apex spring back in. If you look at the S&W .PDF parts lists for the M&P, you see that have 3 different trigger bars listed. I found the MA TRS would not fit right and was preventing the trigger from reseting because it was rubbing or contacting someplace near the top of the trigger itself. I gather there is a fix for this if you are willing to take an Xacto kinfe to your trigger innerds, which I am not. I may try and order the correct MA trigger/trigger bar from S&W, if it is not a "restricted part". S&W seems to have alot of "restricted parts" for these pistols.

Just a guess, but changing the trigger pull radically (v.s. the rather small increment the Apex kit provides) may be a liability issue for S&W. I.e., going from 8# to 4# or something like that. (I always worry about guys who change Glocks from the New York trigger, or swap in the lighter setup on a PPS.... I wasn't aware you could do that at all with the M&P, though. IANAL, but I think the Apex is in the "barely noticeable" category with respect to the weight. The other advantages are where it's at....)

OTOH, raising the trigger pull.... ....

(I have an old Combat Commander that I inherited from a guy with Diabetic Neuropathy. He had it set at about 10#! I could shoot it, but getting it back to reality was necessary. In his case, he had the necessary strength/control, but couldn't feel a standard 1911 trigger....)
