Default To those with both M&Pc and full size

I have the compact 9 and was thinking of also getting the full size 9 since all I own are compact and smaller handguns. Is their enough of a difference between the two to get the full size? Or are they to similar to make a difference. Does the extra length help in shooting longer distances?

I have both the compact and the M&P9 Pro. They are used for different purposes though. Unless you are a fairly large person you would have trouble concealing a full size M&P. As far as shooting I don't see much difference between the two. It is easier to shoot faster with the Pro, with it's longer sight radius and slightly less recoil than the compact.

I havent shot a compact but I have good size hands and I find that the fullsize fits my hands better than the compact. It feels a bit more natural, shot the Sigma pistols but they felt odd in my hands. I would agree with handgunner that a longer sight will make a more accurate shot, even if its by an inch or two.

If as I suspect you are in the Eastern Mass area, there is a Field Day at the Independent Sportsmans club in Foxboro this Sunday. the S&W rep will be there with pistols and an MP15-22 to shoot so he may well have a full size M&P I am hoping he will have Performance Center M&P9 as I want to try one out.

you could also just pick up a full size mag and an x-grip to get a little more hand on the gun.

I am a relatively new owner of both M&P 40 & 40c. Was initially concerned that my hand would be too big for 40c. But 10 round compact magazine with finger rest and 15 round regular magazine with x-grip mitigate any concern.

I got the full size first and traded for the 9c. I like shooting the full size at the range much better, but for carrying, the 9c is the best- for me.

I bought both 9c and full size and there was not enough difference in them and I sold the full size and kept the 9c.
I do not carry anything so that was not an issue with me. I shot them both about the same.

Thanks for the replies. I guess they are to similar to justify buying the full size.

I bought the 9c for carry and then later bought the full size for range time and home defense. I can't make a lot of trips to the range, so when I go I tend to fire quite a few rounds. I tend to shoot the full size more at the range, just because it is a little easier to handle. The full size is also great to have when a friend wants to shoot for the first time.

I have both because I like to have a fullsize and compact that take the same mags and the same holsters.

My first M&P was the 9 FS. I'm a big guy (270 lbs), so concealing it was generally not a problem. For T-shirt days, I bought a 9c which I use with finger extension baseplates on the mags. I shoot the FS a little better than the 9c. I don't carry either much anymore since I bought a M&P 45 Mid-Size, which is sthe same size as the 9 FS.

BTW, I use the same holster (a Galco Concealable made for the 9c) for all three guns.

Where did you get the x-grip? I've got an M&P40c and would like to get one. Geb

I have both the 40FS and the 40C. First, love both of them equally and the versatility each brings to the table. Very accurate and reliable. Each have their strengths and applications where they excel. This is the perfect setup.

Buy the 40 caliber series, then you can buy a 357 barrel and just drop it in, additionally, buy a 40-to-9 conversion barrel and drop that in. Now you have 6 different handguns for the price of two!
