I just purchase a M&P 9c with Crimson Trace Lasergrips. I am wondering if anyone considered or has installed a single sided thumb safety on the opposing side of the Laser.
I'm looking for the best of both worlds. I am used to carrying a 1911 cocked and locked and upon drawing sweeping off the safety. I am just trying to replicate the same movement with the 9c.
The factory says "NO!" If you want the safety, you have to buy it that way from the factory. I'm sure if you've got the bucks, you can manage to get someone to do it, but the expense and hassle is going to be substantial.
For starters, you're going to need the special sear block and thumbpieces and they're not being released from the factory. It's a liability thing.
I hear you. I prefer the CT grip over the safety. Now I want my cake and eat it too. I contacted one of the gunsmiths which work on M&Ps to see what he will say. I'm sure it will be a hassle.
Maybe the S&W custom shop could do it. I think I will call them tomorrow.
I meant to say that if a pistol is not legal to be sold in a state I doubt that the factory will alter a pistol which would no longer be compliant to state laws if they need to return it to that state.
On the other hand the question if the frame can be modified seems that it may be plausible. I'm no gunsmith and I have an interest in their responses.
