Default Wanting a pink M&P 9mm for my wife....hows the trigger pull on the Goloski model?

Looking at getting a carry gun for my wife soon.

She's mainly shot the J-frames and Taurus85 snubbie in the past. The trigger pull was a little strong for her likes in double action.

I've not shot a M&P gun as I've mainly stuck with Glocks, 1911's and Sigs over the years for my semi-autos.

What is the trigger pull like on the M&P?

I saw one model on their website that was a breast cancer awareness model with pink grip inserts. I'd love to have a compact like that. Wonder if I can get the pink inserts somewhere for the compacts?

Prior to this I was considering getting her a 442 and putting a pink Hogue grip on it. Still may do this but I'm open for advice.

Thanks.

The trigger is much like the Glock except the reset is not as positive. My wife got one for Valentine's Day. Kim loves it and shoots it very well. She chose the medium size insert for her hands.

I considered the compact but could not find anyone making pink inserts for the compact. I ordered a woman's pancake style holster from Fist. Kim has no problem carrying and concealing the full size gun. If you decide to go for the J frame Hogue makes pink Bantam grips for around $30.

Thanks, AKviper.

I appreciate your insight. I've been wondering what to do for her. She's terribly undergunned.

She expressed and interest in a house gun not too long ago, wanting one that will hold a TRL-1 or simular. She loves the operation of my G22 with this light.

I got to thinking that she needed a house gun and a CCW gun. I love J-frames, Glocks and Sigs for these but none really fit her that well. She liked the feel of the M&P grips.

Here's what I've done:

Earlier this week I ordered a Rasberry colored framed Ruger LCP.

It should be at my FFL by Monday.

Today, I made the decsion to also get the same gun you did...the M&P Julie Goloski gun for her "house gun".

I found a new one in stock...not exactly easy to do. The saleman said it also came with black grips so I can shoot it at the range without getting weird looks.

I also like the fiber optic front sight. I'm betting that it'll be pretty visable with the rail light is activated. It sure does profile my 1911 & G22 sights really well in the dark.

I'll be giving these to her for anniversary & Christmas. Sure not the most romantic gifts for a gal, but she'll know where I'm coming from and respect that her safety is paramount to me.

Are these magazines the same as the full sized 9mm?

Wish the rebate hadn't expired already.....argghhhh!

Again, thanks for your help.

They use the standard full size 9mm magazine. I think you made some pretty good choices. 9mm is a bit cheaper than the 40 so she can shoot more often. Have fun shooting together.

Thanks.

I have 2 .40's already and another on the way. One of them I'm considering a future swap over to .357 Sig.

I was thinking 9mm for her for the reduced recoil during practice sessions (like you said-reduced cost is a super plus, too) and some of the newer defensive loads for this are really potent, too.

The LCP will be here Monday...the Goloski will be here week after next (wanted to avoid 3% cc fees...mailed 'em a check. They have a 5 day wait fee upon reciept & a few days to process and ship).

She'll be set.

I love my M&Ps (full size 9 and a compact 40). The triggers are gritty when you get them. They get better after a few hundred rounds. Or drop in an Apex trigger.

You can have one Cerakoted or hydroprinted pink.

You can do what I did and find the gun that fits her, than pink-ify it. Coloring is not hard and IMO is better to find something that fits her functionally rather than fashionably. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363734690.132295.jpg

What I ended up doing was filling the entire area with plenty of paint, than let it dry for about 3 minutes. Overage and all. Than take a q-tip with brake cleaner on it and lightly go over it. Make sure and use non-acetone brake cleaner if you're going to use it. I've heard GunScrubber works too, but I haven't tried that so I couldn't say. Whatever it is make sure it does NOT have acetone. Now just keep letting it dry a tiny bit and take a little more off. What's happening is the top layer is hardening than your taking that top layer off instead of spreading around wet paint. I'd highly suggest looking around the house and finding something plastic/polymer with recessed lettering to practice on. Just remember firearm polymer is much stronger than normal, everyday polymer and plastic so if whatever you're practicing on gets a little clouding effect it's just because it's most likely a weaker material. I experienced NO discoloration or clouding effect using the brake cleaner. Again I can't stress enough NO ACETONE. There's lots of threads on the subject, just look up color, coloring, or lettering. You will get many conflicting opinions because everyone does it different ways. This is just what worked for me. Others have used crayons with good results, but I just wanted a little more permanent option. Any other questions I'd be happy to help as long as the OP doesn't object to this thread going that direction.

Sorry, I used Elmers paint pens. I did a thread called "color crazy" and they're pictured there. Just do a search
