Default Safety issue with Apex parts thumb safety models.

Could some one with an unmodified M&P 40c try this.

With your pistol unloaded and pointed in a safe direction and the manual safety off pull back on the trigger until you feel contact with the sear.

Now put the safety back on while still holding the trigger back.

Now continue pressing trigger, mine goes click with the apex parts. Please let me know how a
unmodified M&P works under the same conditions.

In a stressed situation using the apex hard sear, this could be a real safety issue.

Oh heck, this is even worse, just pulled back trigger, set safety, let go of trigger and then pulled trigger. Click.

Further playing with it shows that the safety goes into a half position which sounds and feels good but it isn't good.

Solution for now:
Don't have your finger on trigger when putting thumb safety in safe position.

My unmodified 45 does it. I think it goes with out saying that if one was to engage the safety, you would not be pulling the trigger back.

Perhaps not an ideal arrangement, but I don't know if it's a safety issue.

Maybe S&W should be made aware of it....just to be sure.

The safety on the M&P blocks movement of the trigger bar. By pulling the trigger part way you have moved the trigger bar past the point where the safety will engage it. The safety will not work that way on the M&P.

While this photo shows the proper placement of the HK USP safety lever (after conversion from DA/SA to LEM), the S&W levers can be placed in the same container. The levers come out easily.

LOL. I don't understand the need for manual safetys on these pistols, but to each their own I guess

A long relatively heavy DA trigger and being cognizant of where your trigger finger is at all times should be all the safety one needs. But you know how it is, some folks insist on wearing a belt with suspenders.

Don't ever foul your trigger with your clothing while re-holstering. It has happened more than once with the point and click crowd.

I'll stick to thumb safeties and be happy. Wiping it off as I come up on the target is natural for me. I even do it shooting revolvers
