I had them on a XD40 SC and really liked them. They are bright and in the dark are phenomenal. The nice thing is that even in full daylight they are extremely visible. I had the green front and back. I now shoot with just front sight TFO on my M&P. I have grown to shoot with just plain black back. In low light that is all I will need.

Question I'm waiting to hear about this

sight on the M&P's too.

In the meantime, I have a TFO front & regular tritium rear on a P220 Carry. Absolutely awesome! In darkness they work as regular tritium.

In daylight, or lighted indoors, the front stands out like nothing I have ever seen. A good gold bead is the closest to this TFO front, but gold needs reflective light to work.

I use a clean shoe brush to brush out dust bunnies and stuff from the crevices of the exterior of my pistols, and it works well to keep the exposed fiber optic piece clean & free of dust, dirt, etc... (The housing piece that holds the fiber optic part of the sight has an opening to gather light, and this opening attracts dust & stuff.)

TFO sights for the M&P sound real good. Only question in my mind is durability. My Sig setup has done fine for two years so far.

I was all set to buy them ( even bought a sight tool) for my 9c when I read more than a few reviews that bashed durability of them. Not sure if there was a batch issue or what but am still on the fence. My 9pro has fiber optic ( no tritium) which I love but that is a range gun. Decision coming soon though!

Where did you get a sight tool ?
Mine are home defence pieces, not duty guns, so I'm sure they will suit me.
Good luck on your decision

I have a set on my Glock 23. Green front and yellow back. They work great in all light and no light if I'm carrying at night around the property.

I'm happy with 'em.

Thumbs up

For me, these are fabulous. I use my Sig P229 in IDPA and it's made a world of difference. The brightness outdoors is amazing. They glow very well in a dark room as well.

EXACTLY why I haven't placed my order yet. I read about a lot of issues with the front sights. Then I brought it up with a local friend of mine. Before I could really even mention much, he responded with the very same front sight issues.

Also I've been trying to decide on color. I know green is the brightest, but for some reason I think green rear and red front would be pretty nice. And although I've seen this combination, I'm having a hard time finding it for the M&P.

I have them on my 40 caliber XDm. When I purchased mine they had a reputation for shedding the light pipes, so I filled the cavities in mine with clear slow setting epoxy. The work great as night sights in the dark and are fantastic in daylight, but at an indoor range that lacks overhead lighting in the booths they are worthless. That's a bit of a disappointement because I do almost all of my shooting at indoor ranges and my eyes are old enough that shooting with post and notch sights is a challenge.

IMO, you have to consider where you'll be using your gun, if it's mostly at indoor ranges fibre optics aren't the answer because constrast sights will be easier to see. If your shooting at outdoor ranges, they are the "bees knees".

PS, as cheap as 4 foot fourescent fixtures are today you'd think that decent booth lighting would be a given. Yeah, I know, some idiot could in theory shoot the overhead, however in all my years of shooting at indoor ranges I've never been in a booth with a bullet hole over my head. Downrange a bit, yeah I've seen that happen, many many times. However I have yet to see one single idiot manage to "miss" by shooting straight up.

OK, I just bit the bullet and ordered. I needed a few M&P mags anyway so w free shipping and the 10%, I'm in for $62. If I'm not in love with them, I'll get most of my $ back on a resale. I'll post when they arrive.

Sad to hear that. I shoot mainly on the indoor ranges in my area, so I'd be stepping BACK by buying these. :-(

I have a set on my 40c and love them. I bought my 40compact used and the sights were already on it. I sure am glad they were included since I was/am new to Trijicon Night Sights. Even though the range has good lights, I have experienced very minor problems with contrast. I my opinion, it is good practice since I assume if forced to fire in an emergency I might not have the best conditions.

I'd note that the sights discussed here were modified with epoxy. Not seeing what was done but it's possible the epoxy is robbing light from the system.

Also fwiw, when I shot bullseye/gallery competitively, I learned that many ranges purposely keep the firing line overhead lights dim/off as target shooters preffer this to keep glare off their sights and contrast of sight to target high.
The lack of light on your range amy be planned also.

MGW is the only sight tool to buy for the M&P or any other pistol. Works great!

My front white dot started to deteriorate after 300 rounds, so I had the TFO installed and really pleased with how well they work in near dark, indoor range and outdoor (they really pop outdoors) light conditions. Here's a few shots with a point and shoot camera and trying to focus in on the front and rear sights.

Awesome pic! Thanks! Any chance I can get a pic in low, but not darkened, light? Like an indoor range? Only light down range?

Here's a quick shot in my living room with ambient lighting from windows and no electrical lights on ... sorry for the focus from the point/shoot camera.

Just installed the Truglo TFOs on my 9c last night. VERY impressed. They glow very nicely in total blackness, and likewise in good indoor/outdoor light. Weakest is in in between indoor dim light but they are still decent and better than factory in those situations. They seem well built but time will tell. Well worth the $62 IMHO.

As mentioned front (especially) can be a tight fit. I used heat on the slide to loosen the sight then heat on slide and chilled new sight for the install. Helped considerably.

FWIW, I used this tool:
B & J MACHINE : P500 UNIVERSAL SIGHT TOOL - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools

Did the job on two M&P projects yet will still work on my 1911's and such.

Follow the link(S) posted above. You can do it without one but it takes time, patience and is not without risk.

FWIW, certain sellers will install sights free/cheap when you buy from them.

The MGW 318 sight tool for M&P Pistols is hands down the best tool available. I have changed several sets of sights with no problems. Will also work on some other semi-autos. You clamp the slide in place, push out the old sight & pull in the new sight. Will not damage the sights or pistol. I just finished changing out a set of Novak F/Os with a new set of MeproLight Tritiums.

Default TFO durability

For those that are concerned about durability, the TruGlo TFO's on my wife's pistol have survived for 2 years in the harsh environment of her purse, as well as other places of concealment in cars and around the house.

If they came out with some that could go on my Walther PPS I'd do it as soon as I could. I think they are great sights.
