Default New Owner

My conceal carry permit came in on Monday the 11th, on Saturday the 16th I became the new owner of an M&P 40C.

Headed to the range this afternoon with 100 rounds and no plans of bringing any of them back! *lol*

Short report:

The handgun was flawless, 100 rounds fired with no jams or any problems what so ever.

My previous experiences with M&P's has been with my sons 9mm compact with an Apex trigger kit installed, and a full size 9mm that we rented from a local range. This was my first experience with a .40 of any kind.

My son's trigger effort, by my best recollection, isn't much if any less than on mine but I'm pretty sure it is smoother and doesn't have as much "travel" for lack of better words on my part. I seem to have to pull the trigger further before it fires. On the other hand, the effort on the full size rental was MUCH heavier than mine is. The folks at the gun store where I bought mine told me that it's not unusual for ranges to install stiffer springs in rental guns in an effort to make them safer. Makes sense I suppose...

The .40 surprised me honestly. Being a complete noob to the sport of shooting all I can do is try and relate to what I've read. I.E. the .40 bridges the gap between a 9mm and .45, which I can now totally relate to. The .40 is, ahhh... more of a handful to shoot than my son's 9mm, but doesn't have quite as much recoil as my fathers model 1911 Colt that I have. Funny thing is, I believe I'm more accurate with the 1911 at this point than I am with either of the M&P's. But honestly I don't have enough experience with any of them to feel comfortable making more than a casual observation.

THAT however, is about to change... And at this point I have to say I'm extremely pleased with my choice of the M&P and going with a .40 caliber. I see lots of spent rounds in my future!

Congrats on your new M&P. The 40c is an awesome piece! I suggest dry firing a bunch. It will help you create good trigger control without anticipating the recoil. It will also help smooth out your trigger and possibly make the pull lighter. With practice u will get very accurate with it. Even with double and triple taps! Keep us informed and congrats again!

Congrats! I love my M&P 40c, and it's great for carry. I've done some trigger work on mine, but I'd just say shoot the **** out of it and the trigger will smooth out and feel better. You'll probably get accustomed to it and not want to change a thing, but if you do, there's some great parts out there.

Congrates on a new fun chapter in your life. The m&p 40c is an awesome weapon i use mine for carry and compition. I took 7th at my 1st idpa shoot with it. and after about 500-600 rounds thru it the trigger smothes out and feels amost like the apex trigger is it. i have put over 1,500 rounds thru mine and haven't had one problem yet. have fun with it.
