A west Michigan dealer is having S&W Days today and tomorrow. I called and the S&W rep did not have one with him for the dog and pony show. He said that he can not get his hands on one at this point.

It would have been nice if they had made double stack mags for these to hold 20+ rounds similar to the Kel-tec PMR 30rd .22mag. I would think with the grip width (if it's close to other M&P pistols) it would have been easy to do.

Yeah, I have not seen one anywhere- no one has them yet. I guess we'll have to be patient- hopefully will be worth the wait. I have the M&P 9c, and I figured the M&P 22 would be a good "practice" weapon. Otherwise, may have to get the Sig Mosquito.

From a SIG fanatic, don't get a Mosquito-that pistol should not even bear the SIG Sauer name. Instead get one of the SIG P series classics in 22 caliber. Much better gun. I too am anxiously awaiting the M&P 22 pistol Bill

Default M & P 22

From the various forums I've been reading and the calls to CS at S&W, it would seem that we probably won't see this pistol until July. I'm sure it will be at the NRA convention in three weeks in Pittsburgh and I plan to handle it there (if I can get close enough). Maybe there will be a definite shipping date given out then and I'll decide if I want one. After handling my M&P 9 at the range today, I think I will want one for just practice.

Just to bump this up..
I can't wait till this comes out.
My permit papers have been in for a while now.
So I hoping to pick this up for my first pistol.

Well, this or a M&P9...or both. Ha.

Let us know what you find out at the convention.

Default Grip is fixed and medium in size

Don't know about the guts but the grip is not adjustable. Comes in medium only

Eagerly waiting on the M&P22 pistol, but since I’m in NJ… and have to deal with permits issues,30 day purchase limit, I’m probably headed to my LGS this week and pick up the new Ruger 22/45 #10146

Ruger® 22/45™ Hunter Rimfire Pistol Models

My one remaining permit expires in May so I got to use it… I looked into the new 1911 E-Series .45 acp, way sweet, but NO stock to be found anywhere.

For plinking you could use any Walther .22, or any Ruger Mark series. Some of the old standards and Mark 1's can be had for $200 or less. Buckmarks are good too. Figure $150 - $400
If you want high end the S&W 41 is good, so is the old High Standard. Figure between $500 - $1,000
Really really high end guns? I haven't shot but have seen .22 pistols for $3,000 to $4,000.

I just picked up the GSG 1911 .22 at the gun show last weekend. I haven't had a chance to put any rounds down range yet but I really like the look and feel of this pistol. Lot's of reviews and videos on the net.

I love my berretta neos 22 it works like a buckmark shoots great I have a bushnell red dot on it. I have the delux model 7.5" barrel so it is a real tack driver for a 22

Default M & P 22lr

I was at the NRA show in Pittsburgh this weekend. Spoke to the main representative from S & W and was told that the gun should ship in September but they may come in a little earlier. Check with your LGS in August for more details. I was told there will be plenty shipped from Germany so there shouldn't be a shortage. I can't wait (even though I have waited this long). BTW, it looked and felt like a nice pistol.

Rule of thumb… buy when it’s available… stock is always sold out in a few weeks.

I ended up buying the new Ruger 22/45 (10146) it’s very nice… and will hold me over as I wait…

I checked one out at the NRA Convention also. Felt just like a M&P9 FS with the medium back strap. I will certainly buy one. Bill

It seems to say, single action, if you can find any info at all. Anyone able to confirm or deny? I have a Ruger MkII, and a Model 18, only way I need another .22 is if it is DAO for the practice.

I am torn now between this M&P22 and a Ruger Mark3 22/45 (street price $250).

Do I want cold hard steel or new technology? It will be used for range practice mainly.

Any one know how easy it is to clean M&P22's?
I have not own an M&P before.

One issue with RRuger Mk3 that I have read is the extra efforts needed to clean it.

I have both a Ruger Mark III and an M&P 9mm. The Ruger is a pain to clean and the only way I can do it is to watch Youtube videos to get the hang of it. It becomes simpler the more you do it but it still is fairly difficult. If the S&W .22lr is like their 9mm (and it seems to be), it is fairly easy to clean, just like most semi-automatic 9mms. I won't know for sure until I get my hands on one, but that's my guess. We'll see.

I have a 22A, Beretta Neos, Browning Buckmark and a Browning Challenger and they are all easy to take down and reassemble. Had a Ruger and sold it after I took it apart to clean it. It was a real pain to reassemble.

i have a 22a and love it. its a little cheap feeling compared to my buckmark but for the money spent on the gun and the several thousand rounds my family and i have put through with nary a hiccup it was prob. one of the best gun purchases i ever made.

Well I visiting my parents in Florida and found out my father has been looking at buying a .22 handgun. Partly for SD but mainly so he can just go target shoot at the range all dayfor cheap. He's disabled so it's one of the few things he can go and do. He really likes the walther p22's but how do they compare to the mp? Anyone have any other suggestions on good semi-auto .22 handguns? Thanks, if the mp is worth the wait I'll tell him to put in an order.

With that said, I believe I'll pick up a Sig Mosquito for now and wait till I actually see a M&P 22.

I think S&W pulled a "Ruger" on us.

I waited too long for this, so just broke down and bought a CZ Kadet .22LR conversion kit for my CZ-75 SP01 Custom. That should sort out my .22LR needs for a bit.

Default S&W M&P 22 vs. Sig Sauer 1911 22

I have been patiently waiting for S&W to ship the M&P 22 but the word is not until September. Anybody know anything about the Sig Sauer 1911 22? It's shipping now and I might be interested. Let me know if anyone tried it and what you think.

As I understand it the M&P22 is a Walther manufactured clone of their P22.

I finally got around to trying to order mine today and it's no longer showing up on OMB's website. I know it was there last week because I kept checking up on it. The only reason I waited so long is because I wanted to sell my mosquito first. I suspect they probably took it off the site because of the endless shipping delays.

I spoke with them a couple days ago when they shipped me another gun and asked about the M&P 22. They said the same thing they always do.... Should be out in about a month.....

I wonder if it would be smart to wait a few months after they start shipping before I buy? The initial production bugs might be taken care of by then.

I think S&W pulled a "Ruger" on us.
As the owner of a Mosquito and about 40 other Sigs, don't. It had severe problems when introduced and even new ones can be problematic.

I guess it would be wise to wait but I don't think I will be able to.The S&W top representative at the NRA convention said their engineers were working closely with Walther to make sure this gun was a success. I sure hope so after this long a wait from the Shot Show. We'll see.

I sure understand. I expect my caution will disappear as soon as I see it.

Picked up mine yesterday and shot it today. Ran great. Accuracy was great too. It's a keeper.

Check out the link to the 2011 promo on S&W stuff that was produced for the 2011 Shot Show. The M&P22 is on page 9 !

Most everyone probably is aware by now the M&P22 has an internal hammer and is not striker fired.
