If it doestn't use the same sear block and trigger, with an almost identical striker modified for rimfire, and support the same grip inserts or laser, then it isn't really an M&P, and won't be very useful to many of us.

Keep us posted. I'm very intereted in picking up one of these if they feel and function like a "real" M&P.

I have read a couple Shot Show 2011 reports where they say it does not have interchangeable grips, only comes with the manual safety and the trigger feels very different from the M&P. All three of which detract a little from the gun IMO. I will still probably buy one, but it seems to me if you're going to make a 22LR version of your flagship gun you should include some of its main features.

Well thats too bad...
I'm not an M&P owner so I may still consider one if they are reliable and a good shooter.

Pretty darn expensive for a .22.
It would be one thing if it shot just like my M&P Pro...

It is manufactured by Walther so I am sure it feels totally different. I got excited when I saw it too, until I read the fine print. Still, it looks pretty sweet.

Hate to rain on your You Tube review but the .22 does not have an interchangable grip. I told the S&W sales rep at the Shot Show booth they messed up when they failed to include that feature.

I'm going to assume it comes with essentially the "medium" grip from the M&P9 etc, which my wife and I love, so the M&P 22LR is an insta-buy for me as soon as it comes out.

But if it is made by Walther then that probably means that it is made by Umarex and those are the people who messed up the Walther SP22 and the Colt AR-15.

I shot one this week and it was one heck of a shooter. I liked it so much I put an order in for one when they ship in April. On my M&P .45 I have the small grip adapter on it fits very nice in my hand. The M&P22 felt very similar to me.
The M&P 22 was demo for a sports distributor at their show and it got shot hundreds of times in a very few hours and never had a glitch. S&W said it is rated for any .22LR ammo. They were using CCI mini-mag for the demo.
It is lighter in weight than a standard M&P but shot just fine. It did not have the cheap feel a lot of the current breed of .22s have. Overall I was very impressed with it, like I said I have one on order.

It was similar but not exact. The trigger seemed to be lighter and what was amazing is how fast the gun cycled. You can empty that magazine in nothing flat. Fast and smooth would be a good way to describe it.
I'm going to put the M&P through the ringer before I decide for sure but I'm guessing my Ruger and Colt are going to be heading down the road after the M&P arrives.

Did the slide lock back when the last round was shot? No FTFs or FTEs during your testing?

Yes the slide locked back and while I had to check out many other firearms every time I went by the S&W range people were banging away with the .22. I stopped by and shot the .22 four or five times. It just felt right and shot great.
I did not see any FTF or FTE and I don't think there was. The only time the .22 was idle was when the S&W rep had to run someplace and get more ammo.
I don't want to bash any other manufacturers but I will say this of all the firearms there S&W, Ruger, Springfield, Glock and the Remington 1911 were about the only trouble free guns there. Every other maker had to have something fixed or looked at to keep them all running. The poor Ruger LCR revolvers were so fouled they had to run a brush down the chambers to get the crud out and rounds chambered. As far as I know was all they done to them. Those LCRs just kept going and going.

Info on New S&W M&P22
I talked to S&W Service Rep today. They did not know the date of availability of the new M&P22 but said to check back from time to time. Hmmm. Anyway, I was able to verify the following: .22LR, striker fired, single action, one grip size-not interchangeable, rail, threaded barrel like the Walther--need adapter most likely, 12+1 version (SKU 222000 order number) and a 10+1 version, 24 oz. weight, and the M&P22 is manufactured by Walther, Germany. Check out the link to the 2011 promo on S&W stuff that was produced for the 2011 Shot Show. The M&P22 is on page 9 !

Thanks for Posting
Looks like a lot of people are going to jump on the M&P22,
as soon as it comes out. I'm even thinking about getting one for a walking-around shooter instead of a revolver. Of course, IF everybody
climbs on this bandwagon, that might shake loose a RB kit-gun.....

Is the M&P .22 the same size as the non-compact M&P ??? (What is barrel length?)
Thanks- that looks SWEET, and would be a good practice/target shooter for someone who already has a 9mm M&P for CC.

Found info showing barrel length 4.1"- there is 10-round version and 12-round version. Can put on your "wish list" on Bud's - they will e-mail you when they get some. Bud's price $364.

Well I honestly don't know if it's a LEO price!!!
I think they just got it up on their site and it has NO INFO at all about it. All it says is Model 222000. Usually they have qualifications for buying. I buy as a prior military, and most weapons are available that way. Some are LEO only pricing. The BG380 I ordered was $289 LEO and $329 First Responder. Since I have been waiting it dropped to $289 FR, so I get that price.

MP 22
Greetings Everyone..
Just when I say no more, I see that MP 22. It will be on my "To Buy" List in the future. Little bro to my MP 45!
Assuming it gets on our socialist Calif approved list. Great to have a state that cares so much! Gives me the "warm fuzzy feeling". NOT!

I'm singing the Bojangles Theme Song... Gotta-Wanna-Needa-Getta-Hava- M&P .22 pistol!
I hope that they'll reconsider on the one size fits all medium polymer grip and will offer the interchangable backstraps and maybe some different frame sizes as well. As long as their prices aren't as much as the centerfire models you know people will line up to have a rimfrire version of their M&P 9, .40, .357, .45. I'd also like to see a model without the manual thumb safety for those of us that are already carrying models without them!
I guess time will tell. They certainly have a winner on their hands with the M&P 15 rifles and the M&P 15/22 so hopefully they'll capitalize on the M&P .22 pistol and create a series of different options!

M & P 22lr Shipping Date
I spoke with S&W customer service on Friday and they told me the pistol is going through final testing now and they expect shipping to be mid to end of April. I talked to my local gun shop and was quoted $379.00. I want that gun!

New S&W M&P 22
Talked to customer service this morning. Now they are saying at least twelve weeks before this gun starts shipping. Are they kidding? Do I detect a problem here? I wanted this gun but now I am not so sure.
Show a gun in January and ship it in July. Way to build up demand.
