Question on Sliding releasing when Inserting magazine

When i went out shooting this morning. I noticed when I finish off a magazine and load the new one into the gun. Depending on the force I use. I can get the slide to chamber a new round without needing to touch anything else.

Is that normal?

gun is a M&P 9mm
