My first Shield had a Thumb safety. Took it to my local custom shop for my birthday and had the frame/mags cerakoted OD green, with the slide, barrel, thumb safety, slide stop, and internals coated in Nickel Boron.
Great gun but I sold it as the Nickel Boron slide cause it to be just too slick for me.
Realized it was a mistake in selling my Shield, so I bought another one, this time with no Thumb Safety. Decided against any cerakoting/nickel boron work but did make a few enhancements:
- Rubberized Talon grips
- Truglo TFO's (Yellow Rear, Green Front)
- SS Guide Rod Assembly
- Apex DCAE Kit with Black aluminum trigger
- NDZ Performance extension for 7rd mag
- 3 extra 8 round mags
- Grey color fill
With that said, I have found my perfect medium for this pistol. The Shield is a keeper.

Okay--thought I'd put a pic of my EDC 9mm Shield to show the 7-round mag NDZ extension, Rubberized Talon grip tape, Truglo TFX sights, and metallic gold stamp-fill.
Love my Shield!

Super jealous of the gear, guys. We can Only own the Shield (9 or 40) here. The full-sized 9s look awesome and I would love to know what they're like to fire.

No, I did that on the slide, mag bases, and the top of the barrel where 9mm is inscribed. I also added dots to the bottom of each mag in order to identify which one I am using in the event of a malfunction.
I had seen the color fill in alot of different colors and grey just stood out as being something that isn't too loud but looks nice. It also went well with the fact that the holster is grey too. My previous Shield (w/ Thumb Safety) was cerakoted in OD Green with a Nickel Boron slide and adding the color fill to the slide in Hunter Green really looked good.

I've said it before, "You guys need to take your state back.
