Does your AlphaWolf barrel have any play when you press down on the barrel hood? If so, how does it compare to the OEM barrel when you press down on it?

That's a very good question which I haven't previously tested, so I decided to take the excuse to break my Shield down for cleaning and try it out.
In full lockup, there's absolutely no discernible downward play when pressure is applied on either the factory OEM Barrel nor the AlphaWolf Barrel.
With the breach unlocked and the slide locked in the rearward position, there is a little bit of play with the OEM Barrel and just ever so slightly more with the AlphaWolf Barrel. I didn't measure how much or anything because obviously a Browning tilting barrel, locked breach design such as this is meant to do just that, and it didn't feel sloppy or loose in any way, in fact it was tighter than on most of my other pistols.
That being said, keep in mind that my Shield is a Performance Center Model and the AlphaWolf Barrel is a Match Grade Barrel, ergo there is likely tighter fit/tolerances to it than a standard model, and as always, YMMV.
Hopefully this answers your question adequately.

1. S&W M&P9 2.0 5" FDE. M-12 GI holster & Just Holster It Protector Plus (I removed the "claw" because the gun is too long for me to carry appendix.) Waiting for an Alien Gear shell to modify a cloak holster.
2. Ruger EC9s. CYA IWB.
3. Grand Power Stribog SP9A1. I added a Magpul loop on the rear of the top Pic rail for a single-point sling. It usually rides in an old Cordura laptop briefcase with the 6 30-round mags in pockets & the 20-round magazine in the magwell.
Sent with some arcane communications device.

My version of a Wick Stick. I like the size of a G34 but don't like glocks.
Got an Apex Threaded barrel and an Agency Arms comp, get the 4.25" gun to within 0.15" of a G34 size.
Hopefully will get to shoot it some this weekend.

Optic Ready 9mm / RMR + M&P340
Love these two. Tis my duty carry set up. Running Barnes 125s in the .357 it does well. The M&P9 shoots itself

Have you gotten a chance to shoot it? I have a similar set up except with the factory barrel. Unfortunately there is a slight gap between the comp and the slide due to the thread length of the factory barrel. I really didn't notice an appreciable reduction in recoil.

Picked up a 4th M&P Shield 3.1"
Newest is a M1.0 40 S&W Performance Center with night sights which I transplanted into a M2.0 frame + added a 10-degree striker & R sear + the PC springs into
3rd was an Optics Ready Shield Plus with night sights
2nd was a Performance Center Shield Plus with fiber optic sights
1st was a M2.0 9mm that now lives in the M1.0 frame
Also installed Shield Plus factory Flat Faced Triggers in both the earlier Shields 1.0 & 2.0

New to the forum, but I'm an old guy in my 70's. Learned to shoot in the Army a long time ago.
Got my first S&W, a 9 Shield 2.0, PC, 3.1" ported barrel, fiber optic sights, a few years ago for home defense. I liked it so much, I picked up a 9 Shield EZ with a CT Laserguard to be a little easier on the hands. Then I had to get my wife a 380 Shield EZ. My most recent acquisition is a 9 Shield Plus, PC, 4" ported barrel, fiber optic sights, with a CT red dot.
Here are some pics:

Just took delivery of my latest Milt Sparks holster about a week ago (wait time was 6 months).
Only difference I've noticed is the fit on my earlier Milt Sparks holsters seemed to be tighter than this latest one which is a pleasure to draw from the holstered position.

So this one is far from my first M&P. I owned or was issued a bunch prior to this, but this was my first 2.0, and boy was it an improvement for me over the older M&Ps, which I still think are good guns.
I purchased the 1000 lumen Surefire X300 Ultra and it was my teaching gun for academies and any class requiring an M&P from late 2018 through early 2020. It’s a tack driver and totally reliable over thousands of rounds with no maintenance. No cleaning. No oil. Nothing... just go. It got to the point I’d hit the slide release and the slide would slowly move forward about a half inch... over about two seconds... before finally falling closed... it still ran 100% (but I did clean it after that).
In 2020 we got pistol optics approved and this pistol languished a bit. I used the frame for an optic slide that I eventually sold to a guy whom I’d traded the slide several months prior. He’s a good guy and a friend, and this weekend he gifted me the complete pistol, all put back together.
I’m excited to have it back for two reasons. First, it’s my original 2.0 and it’s a great gun. Second, I’m retiring in less than six months so I can have it milled for an optic and I don’t have to worry about department policy.
I’ve not made a decision yet, but my front-runner choice is Maple Leaf Firearms for a Holosun EPS cut. It will leave the original sights which I’d like and I have three EPS Carry sights on other guns and like them.
