Stopped by the LGS today and picked up a Shield EZ 9mm and a Mission First Tactical holster for same. This weekend I'll break it in at the local gun club.

I’m seriously considering putting a Holosun on my M&P .45 compact. I noticed that your slide doesn’t looked milled . What is required to mount the 507c on the slide ?

Both my 1.0 Pro and 2.0 are "C.O.R.E." M&Ps... they're milled from the factory and come with the mounting plates for the various optics.
Not sure if they make the .45 Compact in an optics ready version, but my suggestion would be to buy a factory gun that's optics ready if they make one and sell/keep the other one.

So you wouldn’t recommend sending out the slide to have it milled?

As with any custom gunsmithing, you're throwing the S&W warranty out the window, and once it's done it can't be undone. If the shop screws it up, you're, well, screwed. Milling the slide is also going to cost $200+ with refinishing.
In my mind, it makes more sense to sell the gun you have, and buy a factory gun with the optic cut. It may even cost less than having the slide milled in the current market depending on what you can get the new gun for.
Of course, if they didn't make the model you want with the optic cut, you're kind of stuck if that's the gun you want.

Just picked up my new Shield Plus P.C. I'm still not over the freedom and liberty feeling when I purchase a new weapon in our new home state of Arizona. Having my CCW as well even makes it even easier.
I told the Home FFL person I've been dealing with that when it's as easy as it is my savings account in going to take a hit . He said "That is one disadvantage of living here".
Really love the design, the ergonomics and the size. Now it's time to expend some of that "precious" ammo I have stashed so I can be confident with it as my daily carry.

Got my first Shield. Shes a 2.0. I traded a Bolt Rifle to a buddy that just got a Plus. Super stoked to shoot her after work tomorrow. I've named her Agent May.

Shot a friend's M&P Compact 22 a few days ago...was favorably impressed with the reliability and accuracy, but not the trigger...lots of glitches in the takeup and a mushy let off. Weight wasn't a factor, but that gritty feel was the pits.
At any rate, I liked the gun for it's weight and ergonomics and the accuracy with Fed Auto-Match and Winchester Super-X solids was right at an inch at 8 yds from a Weaver Stance...i.e. unsupported.
I found one locally here of $389 and bought it. Same feel to the trigger, same accuracy and feel in the hand. Stripping it down to the factory recommended level, I anointed the trigger/sear/hammer interfaces with military weapons grease and Kroiled the remainder with good results.
The trigger is now usable, tho still not fully up to speed...hoping it'll break in with some add'l shooting...Nice gun, light for field carry and my wife likes it!! Big item this last.
Here's the mandatory pic. Best Regards, Rod

Been thinking to get mine ported. Barrel and slide. If you don't mind, could you take a picture of the port on the barrel? It looks angled. Also got a ruler? How far back is the port? 1.2“?

2021 M&P 40 2.0 Performance Center Ported 5"
- Osprey Mini Rail Green Laser
- Fobus RBT Tac holster
Regarding carry function, as some of you are painfully aware, trying to find a reasonably priced holster for the 5" with a rail attachment is damn near impossible.
Found a good item - the Fobus RBT Tac holster. The holster essentially exposes the rail which allows the pistol and attachment to be easily holstered. I use the optional rail cover (called Lighthouse cover).
Works very vell as is. It is formally designed only for the 4 1/2", but it does fit the 5" moderatly well. I easily repositioned the trigger strap to accomodate the longer length to make it fit almost perfectly (drilled out the strap rivet and replaced with bolt/screw),
Highly recommended for those looking for a good decent priced 5" attachment holster.

Long time M&P fan, but just got my first Shield (a Shield Plus w/night sights).
I must say, this is quite an impressive pistol: the capacity (13+1=14) for its size, wonderful shoot ability, and a really great trigger - best trigger feel, by far, of any stock M&P I've ever fired! Really grippy grip texture, too. Way to go, S&W!!!

I love the Shield Plus' new trigger from Smith & Wesson. To my mind, they've out-Apexed Apex by making the safety lever nearly as wide as the trigger shoe itself. Practically no creep, flat wall, clean break, no sponginess, as well.
I wouldn't be surprised if S&W uses this trigger design on future-modified production of the entire M&P line-up.

Another striker-fired favorite of mine is the M&P Compact 2.0. I love the sharp texture on the grip frame! Extremely secure in the hand! I did upgrade the trigger to an Apex kit.

Not sure why but I picked up a 2.0 FDE that was on consignment. Not really a big fan of FDE but it doesn't look all that bad. Only had 1 mag and 1 backstrap so I probably slightly over paid for it. Put a small black backstrap I had laying around on it.
Also picked up a consignment 1.0 Shield, which I did over pay for considering they were being blown out sub $300 a few years ago. But I don't currently have a carry gun and the trigger is quite nice on this one.

Just picked this up a couple days ago for a carry gun...was a Glock fanboy for awhile but after getting this gun...was is the key word. Tack driver. Got it used with tritium night sites too, not sure what brand/model. I think they might be Trijicon. $450 barely used no box or extra backstraps and only one mag but oh well. Fits my hand well as is
