i just picked up a new m&p9 should i be worried about this issue

What problem? It is a machine with moving parts. One steel, one plastic. When a hard steel part rubs on a soft plastic one the soft one will loose the debate.

If you keep looking on the internet for every little nit-picking problem with some thing you are thinking about buying you will never buy anything ever again.

You have to remember something. People love to find any little perceived fault with a product and post all over the internet about how shabby the product was made then bitch about how much everything cost.

When was the last time you saw a post on the internet from someone who said "hey I bought this widget today and there was nothing wrong with it"?

BTW, Perfection ain't cheap and affordable ain't perfect.

+1 I have my suspicion it was filmed by a Glock guy. Nothing againmst anyone that likes Glocks but we all no the hardcore "this should be the only pistol made" types. It's funny how popular the M&P has become and several top professional shooters using them. I have had mine for over 3 1/2 years approx 8,000 rounds and it runs like a sewing machine.

Saw the same video when I was researching my MP9 purchase. I never noticed a problem with mine, or if it is there it is so minor that it is a non-issue. In fact, I believe the person posting the video even says at one point that it is basically a non-issue.

My 40 does that....but I think that it's wore to a point and stopped.

My $1400 1911 has a small wear mark where the slide contacts the dust cover also.
Should I freak out and post a video on U Tube about the "defect?"

Wait until he actually fires it and discovers the barrel develops rub marks where it locks and unlocks---he'll probably want his money back!
