Magazine pouches

I am new to this forum. I have the mp 9. I am going to try IDPA this spring. I have a couple of questions. I need a double mag pouch. I have the 17 rd double stack mags. Does anyone have any ideas on what pouches fit and where to purchase them. I have read some reviews about some I think might fit but they don't say for sure they fit the mp double stack 9mm mag.

Second I need another mag I only have two. The 17 rd mags seem to be all on back order. Will a 10 rd mag fit my pistol.

Third I have noticed that on the SW site that some of the models have only a 9 behind them and some have 9mm. This there a difference in these two.

Not sure if you are aware of this (quoted from IDPA rulebook):

"G. Be loaded to the division capacity of ten (10) rounds in the
magazine plus one (1) round in the chamber. Should division
capacity not be achievable because of lower magazine
capacity, load to maximum mechanical capacity of magazine
plus one (1) round in the chamber. Competitors must use the
same capacity magazines through out the competition20
(Example: if you start with a 9 round magazine, you must use
that capacity magazine throughout the match)."

I did read that but I forgot. I guess i will need to get another 17rd or 3 ten rd mags. Do you know if the 10 round mags fit my 9. I have looked for my pistol on SW site by sku 209201 and am not finding it. I find 209001 that is like it but wonder why the sku is differnt.

Comp tac and blade tec holsters and pouches (kydex) are very popular in IDPA, including for the M&P. Either fit perfectly.

As for the magazine rule, you can use either the 10 round or the normal 17 round magazines, providing you make sure the gun has no more than 10 rounds in the magazine when loaded. In other words, you can start with a 17 rounder with 11 in it, load it in the gun, and you are legal to start with one in the chamber and ten in the magazine. This is only for the start! All the magazines for reload must have only 10 rounds in the mag.

What you can't do is mix magazines that hold different number of rounds, e.g., 10 in some and 9 in another. You must start exactly the same each time, and reload exactly the same. I am an IDPA match director, and this issue shows up occassionally. The rule is intended to prevent gaming by people who use different capacity magazines to pick their reload point on a stage.
There is no problem with using a higher capacity mag than division max as long as you only load 10. Many, if not most, of the ESP guns have higher capacity mags.

I use Fobus cheap and last along time. I have been using them for more than 6 years. I use belt so they don't come off with the mags. Double check, but I think they are for Glk Lg frame or HK . Check on Fobus web site. I know the holsters for MP use Glk 20/21 C use Glk 29/30

I see that no one has answered your question on the 10 round magazines.

The answer is yes and no.

The "California" 10 rounders will fit.

The Fobus double mag pouch for "Double Stack 9mm" works for me. Fits both my M&P mags and my SR9 mags perfectly.

Look for the 6900 model number.
